Job Description


We are seeking a Senior Java Enterprise Software Engineer / Backend Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in Java/J2EE, Spring ecosystem, and building high-volume, secure web services and a proven ability to deliver robust, compliant, and well-tested software that meets business objectives.


Responsibilities:



  • Ensure software meets functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements.

  • Design, code, and unit test solutions with clear, maintainable interfaces and successful integration into the application ecosystem.

  • Apply development and testing practices for web applications.

  • Contribute to story refinement and definition of requirements and acceptance criteria.

  • Estimate work across the delivery lifecycle and guide the team on scope and approach.

  • Perform spikes or proofs of concept to mitigate risk and vet new ideas.

  • Utilize multiple architectural components across data, application, and business layers in solution design and development.

  • Assist the team in resolving technical complexities and implementation challenges.

  • Contribute to integration, regression, and performance test suites, analyze reports, and triage issues.

  • Document and communicate information for deployment, maintenance, support, and business functionality.


Required Skills & Qualifications:



  • Experience with high-volume applications and server-side frameworks such as Spring MVC.

  • Proficiency with Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Integration, Spring MVC, and Spring Data JPA.

  • Strong understanding of SOAP web services and RESTful APIs using XML and JSON.

  • Working knowledge of front-end technologies such as Handlebars, Vue, and ReactJS.

  • Experience with XML and JSON binding libraries such as JAXB, Jackson, and Gson.

  • Unit testing using JUnit and contribution to automated test suites.

  • Experience with Git, Maven, Artifactory, and Eclipse or equivalent IDEs, including branching and merge strategies and Bitbucket.

  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk and Dynatrace.

  • Familiarity with MQ technologies such as IBM WebSphere MQ or ActiveMQ and performance tuning with understanding of JVM internals.

  • Experience with Groovy and object-oriented programming concepts.

  • Experience with distributed systems development using Java/J2EE and web technologies and familiarity with Java design patterns.

  • Experience with defensive programming and application security practices.

  • Experience working with GitHub Copilot or similar coding agents/LLMs.


Preferred Skills:



  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or a related field.

  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience.

  • Exposure to Agile methodologies and collaboration in team environments.

  • Ability to communicate technology solutions to technical, business, and management audiences.

  • Analytical skills to break down requirements and solve problems.


Role Logistics:



  • Start month: November.

  • Onsite expectation: Hybrid with a minimum of 3 days onsite per week.

  • Interview process: 1-2 rounds. Video or in-person required.

  • Approved work location: Newark, DE.
