Important Note

This is a Cloud Engineering role, NOT a traditional DBA position.
Candidates must have strong experience in cloud infrastructure, automation, and DevOps practices supporting Oracle platforms.

Overview

We are seeking a Cloud Database Engineer to design, build, and deploy Oracle database platforms in cloud environments. This role focuses on engineering and automation of Oracle deployments across AWS and Azure, supporting enterprise-scale database platforms in hybrid environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and build Oracle database platforms in AWS and Azure environments

• Deploy and manage Oracle databases on cloud-based virtual machines (e.g., EC2)

• Develop infrastructure using CloudFormation and Terraform (OpenTofu)

• Create and maintain automation scripts for deployment and platform operations

• Enable automation for Oracle features such as auditing, monitoring, and observer tools

• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, Git, and Artifactory

• Collaborate with DevOps teams to configure and troubleshoot automation pipelines

• Support database platform releases and engineering initiatives

• Participate in on-call rotation and production support

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong experience in cloud engineering (AWS and/or Azure)

• Hands-on experience deploying Oracle databases in cloud environments (EC2/VM-based deployments)

• Experience working in hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud)

• Expertise in infrastructure automation using Terraform / OpenTofu and CloudFormation

• Strong experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Artifactory)

• Proficiency in shell scripting for automation and deployment

• Experience working with DevOps pipelines (build, configure, debug)

• Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Datadog, OEM, OTEL)

• Strong production support experience with high-availability systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python or Groovy scripting

• Familiarity with distributed database architectures

• Understanding of Oracle RAC performance challenges

• Experience migrating databases from on-prem to cloud

• Exposure to enterprise observability frameworks

Advanced/Desired Experience

• Experience with Oracle GoldenGate replication

• Experience with Oracle RAC and Exadata environments

• 10+ years of experience in database/platform engineering across Linux environments

• Ability to design resilient, scalable, and highly available database platforms
