R Programming Consultant

Job Location: Fully Remote (candidates may sit anywhere in the U.S., East Coast preferred)

Interview Process

1. 1st Round: 20 minute screening with hiring manager
2. 2nd Round: 30 minute technical interview (programming & scenario based questions)
3. 3rd Round: 60 minute panel interview with 4–5 team members

 

Required Technical Skills
• Mandatory:
o R programming (minimum 3 years, part of the required 8+ years total experience)
o SAS
o SQL
o Statistical programming experience
• Highly Preferred:
o Python
o VBA / VBASIC
o Snowflake
o Data Lake experience

4. Required Soft Skills
• Strong written and verbal communication
• Ability to collaborate across statisticians, data engineers, and data scientists
• Critical thinking and the ability to extract necessary information
• Experience advising on R programming structure and infrastructure
• Ability to support SAS → R programming transitions
• Demonstrated teamwork and continuous interaction (not an independent-only role)

5. Education Requirements
• Master’s degree preferred
• Bachelor’s degree required with 8+ years of relevant experience

Required:

• Master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, or computer science is preferred.
• Other with degrees in a quantitative field and advanced undergraduate or graduate-level statistical coursework will be considered.
• Minimum of 8 years in a statistical programming capacity, preferably within the medical device or biopharmaceutical industry.
• Must have experience programming in SAS and R directed towards analysis of clinical trial data and in supporting ETL pipelines from clinical data management to biostatistics.
• Experience supporting transition of statistical analysis programs from SAS to R.
• Strong programming experience within SAS, R, and SQL is required. Experience with Python, VBASIC, and a dashboard language such as PowerBI, Qlik, or Tableau is a plus.
• Experience with modern database platforms, such as SnowFlake and Delta DataLake, is desired.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
• Report to the Senior Director of Clinical Data Management and Data Engineering within Medical Affairs.
