Overview

Mako's Utilities client is seeking a Monitoring & Observability Engineer / Lead to design and implement an enterprise-wide observability framework. This role will deliver actionable insights across infrastructure and services while aligning observability capabilities with the organization's broader automation and AI strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Define observability standards, architecture, and operational practices

  • Integrate monitoring across infrastructure, applications, and services

  • Establish SLIs, SLOs, and KPIs to measure reliability and performance

  • Enable proactive alerting and incident reduction through improved visibility

  • Partner with ServiceNow and SRE teams to connect observability with service management

  • Leverage observability data to support automation and AI-driven initiatives

Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong experience designing and operating enterprise observability platforms

  • Knowledge of monitoring, logging, metrics, and tracing best practices

  • Experience defining SLOs and reliability metrics

  • Ability to translate monitoring data into operational insights

Nice to Have
  • Alignment with Gartner-recommended observability practices

  • Experience in utilities or highly regulated environments

  • Exposure to AI-enabled monitoring or predictive analytics
