Systems Administrator

Description

We are looking for an experienced Systems Administrator to support and enhance enterprise infrastructure across both on-site and cloud-based environments in Plattsburg, New York. This Long-term Contract position focuses on maintaining secure, dependable, and efficient systems that enable day-to-day business operations, including technical support within manufacturing and production areas. The ideal candidate will bring strong infrastructure knowledge, a hands-on approach to troubleshooting, and the ability to work effectively with technical teams, vendors, and business partners.

Responsibilities:
Oversee the performance, upkeep, and reliability of core infrastructure components across network, server, and cloud environments.
Configure and support connectivity technologies such as routing, switching, wireless access, firewall protection, and secure remote access solutions.
Maintain Windows and Linux server environments, including installation, patching, upgrades, and ongoing system administration for physical and virtual platforms.
Administer backup, storage, and recovery solutions to protect business data and improve operational resilience.
Apply security standards by managing vulnerabilities, supporting certificate-related activities, and reinforcing compliance-aligned infrastructure practices.
Create and refine administrative automation using scripting tools to improve efficiency and reduce manual support effort.
Monitor system health and capacity, investigate technical issues, and implement improvements that strengthen availability and performance.
Provide infrastructure support for high-volume printing and labeling technologies used in a manufacturing setting.
Partner with internal stakeholders and third-party providers while keeping technical records and environment documentation current and accurate.

Requirements

At least 3 years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure support, or a closely related IT operations role.
Hands-on expertise with Active Directory, Microsoft Windows Server, and Windows 10 environments.
Experience supporting enterprise networking, including firewalls, switches, wireless platforms, and remote connectivity solutions.
Familiarity with virtualization and cloud technologies such as VMware and Azure.
Background working with backup, storage, and disaster recovery processes in a business environment.
Ability to support infrastructure in manufacturing, production, or other operationally intensive settings.
Strong troubleshooting, communication, and customer support skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly.
Experience with technologies such as Dell systems and Citrix products is preferred.
