8-10+ years Exp
Must Have Skills:
- VLAN & Inter-VLAN Routing: Configuring, managing, and troubleshooting 802.1Q VLANs, Native VLANs, and Inter-VLAN routing on core/distribution/access switches.
- Spanning Tree Protocol (STP): Deploying and optimizing RSTP, MSTP, and Cisco Per-VLAN Spanning Tree (PVST+).
- EtherChannel & Link Aggregation: Implementing LACP and PAgP for high-bandwidth switch-to-switch and switch-to-server redundancy.
- Switch Virtual Interfaces (SVIs): Configuring and troubleshooting Layer 3 interfaces on multi-layer switches for efficient local routing.
- Switch Stacking & Virtualization: Configuring and maintaining hardware stacks.
- Port Security & 802.1X: Securing access layers using MAC address limiting, sticky MACs, and IEEE 802.1X network admission control (NAC) via Cisco ISE.
- Access Control Lists (ACLs): Designing and deploying Standard, Extended, and Time-based IP ACLs to filter traffic at the LAN boundary.
- DHCP Snooping & Dynamic ARP Inspection (DAI): Hardening switches against rogue DHCP servers, IP spoofing, and ARP poisoning attacks.
- IPAM & Subnetting: Managing enterprise IPv4 and IPv6 addressing schemes, VLSM optimization, and centralized IP Address Management (IPAM) systems.
- Quality of Service (QoS): Implementing Class of Service (CoS) and Differentiated Services Code Point (DSCP) mapping to prioritize voice, video, and critical business LAN traffic.
- Network Monitoring & Performance Tuning: Utilizing SNMPv3, NetFlow, Syslog to proactively track port utilization, errors, and drops.
- Packet Analysis & Diagnostics: Conducting deep-dive packet captures using Wireshark to troubleshoot latency, broadcast storms, and connectivity anomalies.
- Core Routing Protocols: Configuring and optimizing enterprise routing protocols, including OSPF, EIGRP, and Static Routing for robust LAN connectivity.
- ServiceNow Lifecycle Management: Advanced utilization of ServiceNow for structured ITSM workflows.
Wireless Network requirements-
- Controller Architecture: Install, configure, and maintain high-availability Enterprise Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs) in Stateful Switchover (HA-SSO) topology models.
- Access Point Lifecycle: Oversee the staging, provisioning, automated onboarding and physical/logical deployment of 802.11ax/802.11be (Wi-Fi 6E / Wi-Fi 7) Access Points.
- Operating System Maintenance: Plan, validate, and execute non-disruptive software maintenance, code updates, and emergency patching across all WLC deployments.
- Upstream Switching Alignment: Coordinate directly with the wired team to configure upstream trunk ports, native VLANs, Power over Ethernet (PoE+ / UPOE) budgets, and DHCP scopes required for AP operational stability.
Good-to-Have
- Enough technical background to challenge solutions, approaches, and design discussion.
- Adhering to structured ITIL processes for Change, Incident, and Problem Management to minimize business disruption.
