Software Engineering Manager
Location and Work Arrangement

Illinois-based role with a hybrid work model. Teams have flexibility in determining in-office collaboration schedules, with an expectation of regular in-person engagement.
Role Overview

We are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the development of a modern, cloud-native financial technology platform that powers complex treasury, payments, and liquidity management solutions. This role combines people leadership, technical ownership, and architectural influence.

You will lead a team building distributed systems and API-driven integrations that support high-volume financial transactions and mission-critical business operations. Success in this role requires a strong engineering foundation, deep Microsoft and Azure expertise, and the ability to guide technical decisions while developing high-performing teams.

This is an ideal opportunity for a hands-on engineering leader who enjoys shaping technology strategy, mentoring engineers, driving engineering excellence, and delivering scalable solutions in a complex financial services environment.
What You'll Do
  • Lead a team of software engineers building cloud-native, event-driven applications and distributed systems.
  • Drive technical direction, architecture decisions, and delivery across a portfolio of strategic initiatives.
  • Partner closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to define and deliver solutions that solve real customer and business challenges.
  • Conduct design reviews, architecture discussions, and code reviews to maintain technical quality and consistency.
  • Build, coach, and develop high-performing engineering teams through mentorship, career development, and performance management.
  • Champion modern software engineering practices, Agile delivery methodologies, and operational excellence.
  • Lead the design and implementation of scalable APIs and integration platforms connecting enterprise financial systems.
  • Promote a "you build it, you run it" ownership culture that includes operational support and on-call participation.
  • Drive continuous improvement across development practices, tooling, deployment processes, and engineering standards.
  • Foster strong collaboration across engineering, product, operations, and business teams.
What You Bring
  • Proven experience leading software engineering teams as an Engineering Manager or similarly scoped leadership role.
  • Strong background as a software engineer with the ability to engage deeply in technical discussions and architectural reviews.
  • Deep expertise with the Microsoft technology stack, including:
    • C#
    • .NET
    • SQL Server
    • Entity Framework
  • Strong Azure experience, including:
    • App Services
    • Function Apps
    • Logic Apps
    • Service Bus
    • Storage Services
    • Key Vault
  • Experience designing and operating complex distributed systems and cloud-based applications.
  • Significant experience building and managing API-driven integrations.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle practices, engineering excellence, and Agile methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and creating high-performing, accountable teams.
  • Commitment to quality ownership across the entire engineering organization rather than siloed QA models.
  • Demonstrated engagement with AI technologies and modern AI-enabled software development practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience within financial technology, banking, treasury management, payments, brokerage, capital markets, or related financial services environments.
  • Experience integrating with enterprise financial systems, ERPs, banking platforms, or market exchanges.
  • Experience supporting high-volume transaction processing systems with large-scale data exchange requirements.
  • Consulting or technology industry experience focused on finance, accounting, treasury, or transaction-intensive platforms.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and cloud-native platforms operating at scale.
What Success Looks Like
  • Delivering secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions that support business-critical financial operations.
  • Building and retaining a high-performing engineering team through strong leadership and coaching.
  • Establishing engineering best practices that improve quality, reliability, and delivery velocity.
  • Driving architectural decisions that enable long-term platform growth and operational excellence.
  • Creating strong partnerships across technical and business teams while maintaining a hands-on technical presence.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Competitive base salary, bonus opportunities, and equity participation.
  • Comprehensive healthcare and wellness benefits.
  • Retirement and family support programs.
  • Employee giving and matching opportunities.
  • Mobile phone stipend.
  • Flexible vacation approach.
  • Wellness reimbursement programs.
  • Parental leave and family planning support.
  • Regular team-building events, company meetings, and collaborative learning opportunities.
  • Professional development support and ongoing learning opportunities.
