Summary

Key Responsibilities

Accessibility Remediation: Review and update web-published content and documents to ensure 100% compliance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards.
Standard Setting: Establish departmental best practices for ongoing ADA compliance efforts and address non-compliance in existing documentation.
Training & Mentorship: Develop and deliver training materials to program staff regarding accessibility standards and implementation techniques.
Content Development: Compose, edit, and maintain a wide range of technical articles, reports, manuals, and project process documentation.
Collaboration: Coordinate weekly with Bureau Services Managers and the Digital Accessibility Review Team (DART) to prioritize tasks and remove project barriers.
Quality Control: Ensure consistent terminology, messaging, and logical sequencing across all user manuals and online source documentation.

Required Experience & Skills

General Experience: Minimum 4 years of professional technical writing experience.
ADA/WCAG Focus: At least 1 year of experience specifically focused on ADA WCAG 2.1 AA work products.
Accessibility Tools: Minimum 1 year of experience utilizing tools such as Microsoft Accessibility Checker and Adobe Accessibility Checker.
Standards Auditing: 2+ years of experience reviewing existing documentation against set standards, including documenting and prioritizing gaps.
Training/Mentoring: 1+ year of experience mentoring teams and developing related training materials.
Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into user-friendly procedures.

Technical Proficiencies

Expertise in research methodology and technical publication layouts.
Strong ability to organize information in a logical sequence for a diverse audience.
Proficiency in maintaining documentation libraries and controlling version access.
