Onsite in Westlake, TX

Our client seeks a Mainframe Engineer to develop and maintain high-volume, business-critical money movement platforms within brokerage record-keeping technology. You will collaborate with product, architecture, operations, and vendor partners to deliver stable, secure, and high-quality software across batch and online environments. The role requires strong COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and JCL expertise, with a focus on analysis, testing, release management, and production support. Exposure to cloud integration, RESTful services, and stored procedures is beneficial.

Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance.

Rate: $55.00 to $60.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Engage with business and systems partners to deliver high-quality, innovative software solutions.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance mainframe applications across batch and online environments.
  • Perform detailed analysis for maintenance and enhancement projects.
  • Design, deploy, and support software releases into production environments.
  • Collaborate with operations teams and vendors to ensure system stability and performance.
  • Employ data security practices to safeguard customer information.
  • Execute thorough unit, functional, and regression testing.
  • Identify root causes of problems and implement technical solutions.
  • Handle high-severity and critical production issues.
  • Create and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation.

Experience Requirements:
  • 7 to 10 years of software development experience in business-critical, enterprise applications.
  • Excellent mainframe development skills in COBOL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, JCL, IBM utilities, FileAID, Endevor, SQL, debuggers, schedulers, and IOMs.
  • Proven ability to perform hands-on, detailed analysis for batch and online systems.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and supporting production software releases.
  • Demonstrated capability to troubleshoot and resolve high-severity production issues.
  • Strong documentation and testing discipline, including unit, functional, and regression testing.
  • Experience writing COBOL or native stored procedures (preferred).
  • Experience with distributed technologies such as Java and RESTful APIs (preferred).
  • Awareness or exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure, including hybrid mainframe-cloud integration scenarios (preferred).

Education Requirements:
  • BS/BA or advanced degree, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Training or certification exposure related to AWS or Azure (preferred).
