Hydroelectric Maintenance Technician / Operations Technician
Location:

Sandy & Estacada Area, Oregon
(On-site at multiple hydroelectric facilities)
Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Hydroelectric Maintenance Technician to support daily operations and maintenance activities at hydroelectric generating facilities in Oregon. This role requires independent execution of preventive and corrective maintenance, routine monitoring, and operational support including plant startups, shutdowns, and restarts.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, hands-on troubleshooting experience, and the ability to make sound decisions while working independently. Although daily direction is provided by site leadership, this role requires a high degree of accountability, safety awareness, and technical competence.
Required Skills:
  • General knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience performing preventive and unscheduled maintenance
  • Ability to support plant startup, manual shutdown, and restart operations
  • Strong troubleshooting and equipment installation skills
  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn computerized maintenance/work management systems
  • Basic understanding of regulatory requirements, safety policies, and procedures
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of fire prevention techniques
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety
Qualification:
  • Technical, mechanical, or electrical background (formal education or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • First Aid training (or willingness to obtain)
  • Valid driver's license (required)
  • Comfortable operating and maintaining tools and equipment such as:
    • Hand and power tools
    • Electric drills, table saws, skill saws, chain saws
    • Hydraulic and pneumatic tools
    • Electrical test equipment
    • Cranes, forklifts, and pickup trucks
  • Ability to work in an industrial, outdoor power generation environment
