Operations Research Data Scientist

Duration: 10 Months Contract

Job Description:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze business problems, define objectives and constraints, and deploy scalable, sustainable solutions.
• Design and implement complex simulation and optimization models (using Java/Python) for real-world operating facilities and manufacturing sites, managing the lifecycle from proof-of-concept to production.
• Select and define development frameworks best suited to specific business requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Perform rigorous verification and validation (V&V) of mathematical models to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Independently analyze model inputs and outputs to ensure data integrity and performance.
• Integrate agent-based AI systems with mathematical models to optimize workflows and automate complex problem-solving tasks
• Execute model-based studies and scenario analyses to provide actionable recommendations that drive business outcomes.

Experience:

• Strong mastery in development of discrete event simulation or optimization models
• Strong fluency in Python/Java using object-oriented programming and creating complex production applications for data science models
• Working knowledge of data wrangling using SQL, Python pandas, or R
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment maintaining clear line of communication with other team members
  

Skills:

• Basic understanding of data structure and algorithm design.
• Expertise in one of commercial simulation/optimization software such as Arena/Anylogic/Gurobi/CPLEX/Xpress
• Working knowledge of Git/GitHub and cloud platforms (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or Azure)

Education:

• PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, or a related field with statistics courses, or Master s degree with 2 years of industry experience.
