Job Description ECS is looking for a
Linux Engineer to join our team
remotely. Job Summary The Linux Engineer will architect, deploy, and maintain secure Linux-based systems (primarily
RHEL and
Oracle Linux) across classified and unclassified networks. You will ensure all systems meet
DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and maintain an
Authorization to Operate (ATO) through continuous monitoring and vulnerability remediation.
Core Responsibilities - Security & Compliance:
- Implement and maintain system hardening in accordance with DISA STIGs and Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls.
- Perform regular vulnerability scanning and remediation using tools like ACAS (Nessus) and SCAP.
- Ensure systems are operational and comply with application team needs.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure through automated means to standardize configurations across the enterprise wherever possible.
- Automate routine administrative tasks through scripting and or chosen tool sets.
- Manage large-scale deployments and patch lifecycles utilizing automated enterprise tools or developed methods.
- Deploy and manage virtualized environments using VMware ESXi, KVM, or cloud platforms like AWS GovCloud.
- Integrate Linux systems with enterprise identity services such as Active Directory, LDAP, or other architected methods.
- Monitor system health and performance using enterprise tools within the environment.
- Technical Environment
- Operating Systems: Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Rocky Linux, Oracle Linux.
- Tools: Red Hat Satellite, Ansible, ACAS, HBSS/Trellix EPP, VMware vSphere.
- Protocols: SSH, NFS, DNS, LDAP, PKI certificate management.
- Must hold a current IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+ CE) at a minimum. (May obtain within 90 days of hire)
- Strongly preferred: OS-specific certifications like RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) or RHCE.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000

- Certifications (DoD 8140/8570):
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (relevant experience may sometimes substitute).
- Experience: 3+ years of Linux administration experience, ideally within a secure or classified environment.
Desired Skills - Clearance: Active DoD Top Secret/SCI
