Position OverviewQinetiQ Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Linux Administrator to manage, maintain, and optimize our Linux-based infrastructure. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, production-critical environment.
Responsibilities- Design, deploy, and maintain Linux server environments (physical, virtual, and cloud-based)
- Ensure system performance, availability, and security across all environments
- Automate routine tasks using scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
- Manage system monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and vulnerability remediation
- Troubleshoot complex system and application issues
- Collaborate with DevOps, networking, and security teams
- Maintain documentation for systems, processes, and procedures
- Support disaster recovery and backup strategies
Required Qualifications- 5+ years of experience administering Linux systems (e.g., RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
- Strong knowledge of system performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Experience with virtualization (VMware, KVM, etc.)
- Implementation of STIG's according to NIST Framework
- Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, or similar)
- Familiarity with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, or Chef)
- Experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.)
- Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls)
- Well versed in CyberSecurity hygiene
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance if required
Preferred Qualifications- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
- Linux certifications (RHCE, LFCS, or equivalent)
- Experience in high-availability and distributed systems
- Working knowledge of Gitlab or similar applications
