Description A confidential public-sector client in the Sacramento area is seeking an experienced IT Manager to lead technology operations supporting a 24/7 environment. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on operational oversight and is ideal for an IT leader who values people-first leadership, operational excellence, and the delivery of secure, highly available, and resilient technology services.
The position is
hybrid, working a few days per week in the Sacramento office, and offers an outstanding benefits package including a

What You'll Do- Lead and oversee enterprise IT operations in a 24/7 mission-critical environment
- Supervise system operations to meet milestones, deliverables, and performance standards
- Lead IT teams across infrastructure, networking, desktop support, telephony, security, servers, and applications
- Oversee system design, implementation, testing, maintenance, and modernization initiatives
- Lead new project analysis and implementation, ensuring smooth transition to operations with proper documentation
- Develop and implement workflow and process improvements, including documentation, monitoring, and reporting
- Investigate and resolve system issues, driving continuous improvement and system reliability
- Manage IT budgets, vendors, contracts, and service providers
- Provide regular updates and status reports to executive leadership
- Balance long-term technology planning with day-to-day operational leadership
Requirements - 8-10+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise networks and systems
- 5-6+ years of IT leadership or management experience
- Strong knowledge of IT governance, budgeting, project management, and cybersecurity
- Hands-on experience with Windows environments, Active Directory, and enterprise networking
- Strong understanding of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, and network infrastructure
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex systems and lead teams through issue resolution
- Experience managing vendors, contracts, and competing priorities
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
- Experience in public-sector, public-safety, or other high-availability environments strongly preferred
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft, Azure, systems, or cloud) are a plus
