Daily Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed inspections of boilers, HRSG systems, and auxiliary equipment using visual, mechanical, and ultrasonic methods


  • Perform boiler performance testing and combustion tuning to improve efficiency, reliability, and emissions compliance


  • Analyze operational data such as NO?, CO, O? levels, steam flow, pressure, and temperature to identify performance gaps


  • Develop and deliver technical reports with findings, recommendations, and corrective action plans


  • Troubleshoot combustion, mechanical, and system performance issues in field environments


  • Support outage planning and execution, ensuring proper inspection scope and coverage


  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and industry codes during all field activities


  • Collaborate with engineering teams and clients to communicate results and implement performance improvements



Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience


  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in boiler or HRSG inspection and performance tuning


  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics


  • Experience with combustion systems, burner management, and emissions compliance testing


  • Proficiency in inspection techniques including visual inspection, ultrasonic thickness testing, and borescope evaluations


  • Strong technical writing and reporting capabilities


  • Ability to work in industrial environments, including confined spaces and elevated structures


  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively and perform hands-on fieldwork



Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in power generation, utilities, or heavy industrial boiler systems


  • Knowledge of industry standards such as ASME Boiler Code, NBIC, and ASME PTC


  • Experience with tuning software, instrumentation, and portable emissions analyzers


  • Prior field service or OEM inspection experience
