Independently designs, develops, tests, and maintains complex software solutions that meet business and user needs. Emphasizes delivering scalable, reliable, and high-quality applications by applying advanced best practices in coding, architecture, and software lifecycle management, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers.

This Software Engineer independently designs, develops, tests, modernizes, and supports Wealth & Trust applications and integration services. The role focuses on delivering scalable, secure, and resilient business solutions while modernizing legacy platforms and migrating applications to cloud-based architectures.
The engineer combines strong expertise in .NET/C#, SQL Server, Node.js, Angular, REST APIs, and AWS services to build new capabilities, enhance existing applications, and enable seamless integration across business and technology platforms. The position partners closely with Product, Architecture, Security, Operations, Data, and Business teams to deliver solutions that improve client experience, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and platform reliability.
Scope of Responsibility
Development and support of Wealth & Trust applications supporting client, advisor, operations, servicing, accounting, reporting, and workflow capabilities.
Modernization of legacy applications through refactoring, API enablement, cloud migration, and technical debt reduction initiatives.
Development of web applications, APIs, background services, and event-driven solutions using .NET, Node.js, Angular, SQL Server, and AWS services.
Integration across enterprise platforms, vendor systems, cloud services, and legacy environments utilizing APIs, messaging, and file-based interfaces.
Delivery of secure, observable, resilient, and supportable solutions aligned with enterprise architecture, risk, and operational standards.
Participation in application modernization programs, cloud adoption initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts that reduce operational risk and increase speed to market.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree or MBA.
  • Certification in Six Sigma Green Belt, CQIA, or similar process improvement methodologies.
  • Previous experience in the banking or financial services industry.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Strong experience with .NET Framework, ASP.NET Web Forms, ASP.NET MVC, SQL Server, and SSIS.
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms and application modernization initiatives.
  • Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), and modern authentication patterns.
  • 8. Familiarity with Angular and Node.js development.
  • 9. Experience modernizing legacy applications and implementing cloud-native architectures and DevOps practices.

3. Leads code reviews and provides constructive feedback to ensure code quality, maintainability, and performance.
4. Collaborates with cross-functional technical teams to plan and execute technical initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of solutions.
5. Troubleshoots, debugs, and resolves complex software defects and production issues, applying root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
6. Participates actively in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design discussions, development, testing, deployment, and support.
7. Applies secure coding practices, testing strategies, and documentation standards to ensure software quality and compliance with organizational guidelines.
8. Mentors and supports junior engineers to foster technical growth and adherence to best practices.
9. Utilizes and contributes to existing frameworks, tools, and technologies to enhance application development across relevant technology domains.

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field with 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and training.
2. In-depth knowledge of information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement IT best practices.

To comply with the Virginia pay transparency statute and for work locations in Virginia only, The annual base salary for this position is $105,040-$131,300.
