Position Title: Power BI Architect (Preferred Local Candidate)
Location: Washington, DC 20433
Duration: Long Term Contract
Hybrid Onsite: 4 days per week from Day 1, with a full transition to 100% onsite anticipated soon

Note: This role is primarily BI architecture focused with less focus on Data Engineering. We are not looking for Candidates with Data Engineering heavy background at the moment.

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Power BI  Architect to design and implement enterprise-scale analytics solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in Azure Databricks Lakehouse architecture, Unity Catalog for data governance, and building robust, high-performing self-service datasets in Power BI. The resource will play a key role in shaping our data strategy, ensuring scalable, secure, and user-friendly reporting capabilities across the organization. The scope of work and activities include the following:

• Architect and develop scalable data models and datasets for Power BI self-service analytics.
• Work extensively with Azure Databricks Lakehouse to integrate and prepare large, complex datasets.
• Implement data governance and security controls using Unity Catalog.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand analytical needs and translate them into effective BI solutions.
• Ensure high performance of Power BI reports through best practices in data modeling and query optimization.
• Define standards and guidelines for Power BI development across the organization.
• Lead efforts in metadata management, data lineage tracking, and quality assurance.
• Mentor junior BI developers.

 SKILLS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in BI architecture.
• 12+ years of overall IT experience
• Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
• Hands-on experience with Azure Databricks Lakehouse and Unity Catalog.
• Strong understanding of cloud-based data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and analytics architecture.
• Proven experience creating and managing large-scale self-service data sets for diverse business users.
• Experience with CI/CD , DataOps practices
