Summary

Position: Sr. Infrastructure Engineer (Citrix/VDI (End User Services))
Location: Austin, TX (Onsite)
 
Role: Senior engineer who designs, automates, optimizes, and supports a global Citrix/VDI environment. Needs strong ownership and communication and turns recurring operational problems into automation and measurable improvements.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Citrix: Design, implement, and maintain enterprise Citrix, including Citrix Cloud DaaS, Cloud Connectors, Delivery Controllers, StoreFront, Workspace, Director, and licensing. Optimize global VDI for office workers, developers, traders, and high-performance users. Lead modernization, upgrades, standards, and roadmap planning.
  • Cloud VDI: Design and support Azure-based VDI, including image management, provisioning, capacity plans, resiliency, DR, and regional readiness. Evaluate emerging cloud desktop capabilities.
  • Windows desktop: Engineer Windows 10/11 (physical and virtual). Maintain gold images, lifecycle processes, and drift controls. Integrate applications. Define GPO standards, hardening baselines, and procedures. Troubleshoot logon, application, and performance issues.
  • Profiles and UX: Optimize FSLogix, Citrix, and roaming profiles. Improve logon speed, session stability, and personalization. Maintain UX metrics and benchmarks.
  • Incident management: Provide Tier 3/4 escalation support, lead outage investigations and RCAs, coordinate with vendors (Microsoft, Citrix, VMware, Nutanix), and produce technical summaries, executive updates, and corrective action plans.
  • PowerShell automation (core requirement):
    • Build and support production-grade automation across Citrix, Windows, AD, VMware, Azure, M365, and monitoring tools.
    • Create self-healing/auto-remediation workflows, automated reporting and dashboards (ops, compliance, capacity, UX), and health-validation tooling.
    • Integrate with REST APIs, Microsoft Graph, Citrix APIs, PowerCLI, and Azure modules.
    • Develop reusable frameworks for EUS and Infrastructure Engineering.
    • Use source control, peer review, structured logging, error handling, and documentation.
    • Maintain your own automation, including retiring obsolete scripts.
    •  Use AI-assisted tools with proper review and security controls.
 
Required Skills:
  • Citrix/VDI: Citrix Cloud, DaaS, Virtual Apps & Desktops, Studio, Director, StoreFront, Workspace, ADC/NetScaler, MCS, PVS, HDX optimization
  • Windows: Windows 10/11 Enterprise, AD, Group Policy, Entra ID, SCCM/MECM, Intune, image management
  • Automation: PowerShell (advanced functions, modules, remoting, DSC), REST APIs, Graph API, JSON, XML, Git/GitHub, CI/CD concepts
  • Cloud/Virtualization: Azure, Azure Virtual Desktop, VMware vSphere/ESXi, PowerCLI, hybrid cloud
  • Monitoring: Director, Log Analytics, dashboards, alerting, capacity management, RCA documentation
 
Experience:
Required:
  • 8+ years Windows infrastructure/EUC
  • 8+ years enterprise Citrix
  • 5+ years large-scale VDI
  • 5+ years production PowerShell
  • Multi-region environments with thousands of users
  • Led major infrastructure/VDI/cloud transformation projects
  • Source control, peer review, and logging practices
  • Strong incident, problem, and RCA experience
Preferred:
  • Citrix, Azure, or VMware certifications
  • Financial services or other regulated environments
  • Trader, developer, or high-performance VDI use cases
