Job Overview
Dallas ISD is seeking a Quality Inspector to support IT infrastructure projects across K-12 schools and district facilities. This is not a software QA role. The position focuses on fiber optics, cabling, and IT peripheral infrastructure quality inspection for new construction and existing buildings.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience inspecting and validating fiber optic installations, cabling, and related IT infrastructure, preferably in schools, government buildings, or commercial environments (e.g., telecom providers, data centers, banks).
Candidates must be local and able to travel onsite to multiple schools and buildings within the Dallas ISD area.
Key Responsibilities
Perform on-site quality inspections with a strong focus on fiber optic infrastructure and cabling systems.
Observe IT infrastructure and equipment installations to ensure compliance with project specifications and contractual requirements.
Verify materials and equipment meet Dallas ISD technical design guidelines, plans, and specifications.
Ensure fiber optic and IT infrastructure systems are installed correctly and are fully operational.
Conduct field inspections, document findings, and prepare detailed inspection reports.
Identify quality issues, defects, or non-compliance and work with vendors and project teams to resolve them.
Assist Project Managers with developing and implementing inspection criteria and site assessment procedures.
Participate in weekly status meetings to discuss inspection results, findings, and improvement recommendations.
Investigate vendor-related quality issues, bond issues, and complaints.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and QC guidelines.
Support schedule planning activities and attend relevant project meetings.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent (U.S. equivalency required).
Technical school education or equivalent hands-on experience preferred.
5+ years of relevant experience in:
Strong understanding of fiber optic systems, cabling standards, and IT peripherals.
Experience working in schools, government buildings, telecom, utilities, or commercial facilities is highly preferred.
Familiarity with electronic and testing equipment such as:
Voltage testers
Amp clamps
Oscilloscopes
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to detect quality risks.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently, multitask, and meet deadlines.
Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Additional Notes
This role requires daily onsite presence at Dallas ISD schools and facilities.
Local candidates only – must be within driving distance.
Background working with telecom providers (e.g., Verizon, AT&T), cable companies, or large commercial projects is a strong plus.
