- Work includes custom EDI work and SQL Server.
- Role includes making sure AI development practices are sound (code review to make sure it is sound).
Job Description:
As our client's Senior Integration Engineer, you will independently design, build, deploy, and support complex, business-critical integrations connecting enterprise applications, data platforms, external partners, and digital channels. You will take end-to-end technical ownership of assigned integrations across Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, Sales, and E-Commerce, with particular emphasis on Workato and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations. Working within enterprise architecture and platform standards established by the Lead Integration Architect, you will make sound implementation decisions, improve production reliability, modernize legacy interfaces, and mentor less-experienced engineers. This is a hands-on senior engineering role focused on solution delivery and operational excellence, not ownership of enterprise integration strategy or platform governance.
Responsibilities:
- Independently lead detailed design, development, testing, deployment, and production support for complex integrations and automation workflows using approved architecture patterns.
- Build and optimize Workato recipes, connectors, APIs, event-driven workflows, SFTP/file interfaces, database integrations, and reusable components.
- Deliver integrations across D365 F&O, Shopify, e2open, SPS Commerce/EDI, 3PL/WMS, financial applications, Azure services, Microsoft Fabric, and internal applications.
- Define detailed mappings, transformations, validations, reconciliation, exception handling, retry and idempotency controls, and error-recovery procedures for assigned interfaces.
- Implement authentication, least-privilege access, secrets management, logging, audit traceability, and data protection in accordance with established Security and integration standards.
- Own technical estimates, development plans, unit/integration tests, release readiness, deployment, rollback, and post-release validation for assigned work.
- Apply source control, peer review, automated testing, CI/CD, environment separation, and controlled change management consistently.
- Monitor production integrations; investigate failures, data discrepancies, performance bottlenecks, and connectivity issues; lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions for assigned services.
- Execute modernization and migration of legacy SQL jobs, stored procedures, scripts, manual processes, and point-to-point integrations in alignment with the architect-approved roadmap.
- Partner with business SMEs, Product Managers, data teams, and vendors to clarify requirements, dependencies, acceptance criteria, and operational expectations.
- Maintain accurate technical designs, interface inventories, data mappings, runbooks, alerts, recovery steps, and support handoffs for owned integrations.
- Perform code reviews, coach other engineers, promote reuse, and raise architectural exceptions or cross-platform design decisions to the Lead Integration Architect.
- Identify improvements in performance, scalability, observability, supportability, and cost; propose changes to shared standards for architect review.
- Coordinate vendor technical deliverables, validate quality, and ensure knowledge transfer and sustainable internal ownership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in enterprise systems integration, software engineering, automation, or data integration, including independent delivery of production integrations.
- Hands-on experience developing and supporting integrations with Workato or a comparable enterprise iPaaS platform (such as Boomi, MuleSoft, or Azure Logic Apps); Workato experience strongly preferred.
- Strong proficiency with REST APIs, JSON/XML, SQL, relational databases, SFTP/file processing, webhooks, asynchronous messaging, and system-to-system integration patterns.
- Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language such as C#, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or PowerShell.
- Demonstrated ability to design error handling, retries, idempotency, reconciliation, observability, and reliable recovery for business-critical interfaces.
- Practical experience with source control, code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, deployment/rollback, production monitoring, and incident root-cause analysis.
- Experience applying secure integration practices, including API authentication, access controls, secrets management, and data protection.
- Ability to independently lead complex technical delivery, communicate risks, document solutions, and mentor less-experienced engineers.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, Azure, Microsoft Fabric, Azure DevOps, EDI, E-Commerce, or supply-chain/3PL integrations preferred.
- Experience migrating legacy SQL, scheduled jobs, scripts, and point-to-point integrations to a governed iPaaS platform preferred.
- Working knowledge of SOX/ITcontrols, change traceability, and audit evidence preferred.
In this position, your goals and KPIs will be focused around:
- Independently delivering complex, production-ready Workato integrations, APIs, and automation solutions on schedule and within approved standards.
- Improving integration availability, data accuracy, performance, monitoring coverage, and recoverability for owned services.
- Reducing recurring incidents, manual intervention, failed transactions, and mean time to resolution through permanent corrective actions.
- Executing prioritized legacy integration migrations and improving reuse, maintainability, and technical debt.
- Maintaining complete technical documentation, runbooks, support ownership, and controlled release evidence.
- Improving engineering quality through code reviews, mentoring, automated tests, and dependable collaboration with the Lead Integration Architect and stakeholders.
