Onsite in Cincinnati, OH

The organization seeks a Database Administrator with strong Snowflake, SQL, ETL, and Python expertise to optimize data platforms and enable secure, performant analytics. The role will manage performance tuning, governance, and maintenance while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The position supports scalable data initiatives and mentors team members on best practices. Candidates should bring cloud data platform experience and a focus on reliability and compliance.

Rate: $70.00 to $80.00/hr. w2

Responsibilities:
  • Analyze and optimize complex SQL queries and workloads to ensure efficient resource utilization and cost management.
  • Monitor and tune Snowflake compute resources for optimal performance.
  • Implement best practices for data modeling, partitioning, clustering, and indexing.
  • Manage user roles, access controls, and data masking policies to ensure compliance with security standards.
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to enforce data governance policies.
  • Audit and monitor data access and usage patterns to detect anomalies and ensure data protection.
  • Maintain clean and organized schemas, tables, and views across environments.
  • Implement automated routines for purging obsolete data, archiving, and metadata management.
  • Ensure consistency and reliability of data pipelines and integrations with Snowflake.
  • Work closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to support data initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior DBAs and data team members.
  • Stay current with Snowflake features, updates, and industry trends to improve platform capabilities.

Experience Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Snowflake DBA or in a similar role managing cloud-based data platforms.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and performance tuning techniques.
  • Deep understanding of Snowflake architecture, including virtual warehouses, storage layers, and caching mechanisms.
  • Experience with data security frameworks and compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with ETL or ELT tools and data integration frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.
  • ETL experience.
  • Python.
  • Very strong Snowflake experience.
  • Very strong SQL.
  • Automation tools such as dbt or Terraform (preferred).
  • Knowledge of AWS and integration with Snowflake (preferred).
  • Scripting in Python or Shell for administrative tasks (preferred).
  • SnowPro certification, Core or Advanced (preferred).
  • 12-factor applications experience (preferred).
  • Microservices development using Node or Express.js (preferred).
  • Elastic Container Service experience (preferred).
  • Greenfield application development experience (preferred).
  • Terraform experience (preferred).
  • Configuring and tuning Tomcat Embedded (preferred).
  • HashiCorp Vault familiarity (preferred).
  • Jenkins CI or CD experience (preferred).

Education Requirements:
  • SnowPro certification, Core or Advanced (preferred).
