Summary

We are seeking a Postgres Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. This role will support our on-premise PostgreSQL environment and assist in our migration to a hybrid cloud architecture.

Responsibilities:

Administer, maintain, and optimize on-prem PostgreSQL databases.
Perform database migrations, backups, recovery, and performance tuning.
Create and modify database objects using DDL (e.g., tables, indexes, stored procedures).
Work with development teams to understand downstream impacts of schema changes.
Collaborate on the migration of databases to the cloud (target completion: August).
Support regular deployment schedules.
Participate in a shared on-call rotation with a primary/secondary model.
Ensure database availability, reliability, and security in a Linux environment.
Work within a collaborative team that values shared responsibility and support.

Must-haves:

5+ Years of professional experience administering PostgreSQL in on-prem environments (not solely cloud-hosted).
Professional exposure to multi-tenant environments utilizing a variety of data sources.
Adept ability with SQL statements, table joins, views, stored procedures, etc.
Professional experience with either SQL Server or Oracle databases.
Strong knowledge of DDL and the ability to assess the impact of changes across applications.
Basic Linux administration and shell scripting in a command line environment.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

Exposure to Puppet and YAML configuration files.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
Understanding of database automation and CI/CD practices.
