Description
  • TEKsystems is looking for a Project manager to support our client in the Nashville, TN market in their Planning, Design & Construction (PDC) department during a period of sustained project volume and complexity.
  • The PDC team oversees approximately 100 active construction and renovation projects at any given time, spanning new medical facilities, major renovations, and technically complex work within active hospital environments.
  • This role will function as an owner-side project manager, representing VUMC in the oversight and governance of assigned projects.
  • The Senior PM will work closely with general contractors, architects, engineers, and internal hospital stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and in compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • The engagement is expected to last approximately 12 months, with the potential to extend up to 18 months, and is designed to immediately add Senior-level expertise to an already lean, highly experienced team.
  • Healthcare Construction Oversight: Manage complex healthcare construction in active hospital environments, ensuring compliance with infection control, life safety, and operational constraints.
  • Project Governance & Coordination: Oversee GCs, architects, and engineers with accountability for scope, schedule, quality, and risk-without direct construction execution.
  • PM Team Support: Independently lead smaller projects or support existing PMs with execution, documentation, and issue resolution.
  • Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary liaison between construction teams and internal hospital stakeholders to align clinical, operational, and project needs.
  • Risk Identification: Proactively identify and escalate schedule, scope, or compliance risks to prevent downstream impacts.

  • Manage multiple construction projects across varying scopes
  • Coordinate with GCs, architects, and engineering teams
  • Track schedules and deliverables using Kahua or similar tools
  • Review drawings and documentation to identify risks or gaps
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare and company standards
  • Provide clear status updates and maintain strong documentation

  • Portfolio: ~100 active projects supported by a ~30-person PDC team
  • Project Types: New builds, major renovations, complex clinical work
  • Impact: Adds Senior oversight to reduce risk, protect patient safety, and keep high-visibility projects on track in a highly regulated environment

Education & Certifications (Preferred):
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
Equivalent field experience accepted
PMP, CCM, LEED, or similar certifications are a plus, not required
Healthcare & Institutional Experience:
Experience working in active healthcare environmentsFamiliarity with:
Infection control (ICRA)
Shutdown coordination (clinical spaces, utilities)
Life safety / ILSM requirements
Experience in hospitals, academic medical centers, or large institutional campuses strongly preferred
University or lab construction acceptable if healthcare experience is limited
Construction Tools & Systems:
  • Experience with construction PM platforms (Kahua, Procore, e-Builder, or similar)
  • Ability to quickly adapt to internal systems and reporting standards

Design & Technical Literacy:
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Comfortable managing design-to-construction transitions

  • Professional communicator with contractors, designers, and hospital leadership
  • Independent, sound judgment, and strong documentation habits

This is a Contract position based out of Nashville, TN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00/hr.
