Software Engineer - ServiceNow App DevelopmentLocation

We are seeking a Software Engineer to support application development on the ServiceNow (SNOW) enterprise workflow platform. This role will focus on building and enhancing applications within ServiceNow, leveraging both native platform capabilities and custom-developed functionality. The team is intentionally pivoting toward a broader
software engineering mindset, prioritizing strong development fundamentals over deep platform specialization.
The role is open to
junior through senior-level candidates, with flexibility to level the position up for more experienced engineers.
Project Scope
- ServiceNow is used as an enterprise workflow and application development platform
- Primary focus is on application development (AppDev) within ServiceNow
- Build custom applications, extend existing functionality, and create new capabilities to enhance the platform
- Work closely with ServiceNow as a vendor and internal stakeholders to deliver scalable solutions
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and enhance applications within the ServiceNow platform
- Leverage built-in ServiceNow capabilities while developing custom features as needed
- Apply strong JavaScript fundamentals to both front-end and back-end development
- Participate in system design and architecture discussions (senior-level)
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including product managers, vendors, and internal teams
- Contribute to a team culture that emphasizes general software engineering best practices over platform-specific customization
Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)
- Strong JavaScript experience (absolute requirement for senior-level candidates)
- Software engineering or computer science background with hands-on development experience
- Front-end framework experience: Angular preferred (React also acceptable)
- Openness to back-end development; Node.js experience is a plus
- Database experience preferred (SQL Server)
- Ability to design, build, and maintain scalable applications
- Willingness to work hybrid onsite (2 days/week)
Note: Prior ServiceNow experience is preferred but
not required, especially for senior candidates. Strong engineering fundamentals are the priority.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves)
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders (PMs, sales, external vendors)
- Previous experience in banking or financial services environments
- Degree in Computer Science or related field
- Exposure to system design or application architecture (senior candidates)
Soft Skills
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfortable working with external vendors, including ServiceNow
- Collaborative, adaptable, and solutions-oriented mindset
