Role Overview

We are seeking an Engineer to perform assignments ranging from limited scope to advanced projects requiring expertise in multiple disciplines. This role involves increasing independence based on experience and focuses on project management, technical analysis, and engineering oversight for utility-scale solar, BESS, and power plant operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical project management skills and excellent soft skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage all assigned substation projects from conception through construction and commissioning.
  • Provide technical oversight of external engineers to ensure compliance with interconnection agreements, project specifications, and industry standards (IEEE, NESC, ASCE).
  • Secure engineering consulting resources by developing scopes of work, securing bids, and evaluating suppliers.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to secure substation sites and obtain necessary permits and data for design and construction.
  • Manage project engineering responsibilities, including schedule and budget oversight, and coordinate with environmental, procurement, and construction teams.
  • Lead engineering reviews, value engineering assessments, and design optimization processes.
  • Review interconnection documentation, including system impact studies and facility studies, to ensure compliance with all ISO requirements.
  • Manage orders for long-lead major materials to minimize project risk and budget overruns.
  • Ensure projects are implemented efficiently, cost-effectively, and safely in accordance with department procedures and policies.
Required Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required.

Experience: 6 to 10 years of experience in managing engineering projects. Experience in solar, BESS, or other power industry applications is necessary. A background in substation design and high-voltage projects is highly preferred.

Technical Skills: Strong project management and communication skills are essential. Experience with Word is required. Familiarity with engineering computational tools (ETAP, EDISON), ASME standards, or structural engineering tools (GT Strudel) is beneficial.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in a related discipline.
Work Environment

This position requires some travel within North America. Driving will be a part of the position duties. A valid, non-restricted driver's license must be maintained, with no alcohol/drug-related driving offenses within the previous five years.
