About the Role

We're seeking a skilled Database Administrator with 3-5 years of hands-on experience managing and optimizing Azure SQL and Oracle database environments. This role focuses on performance tuning, security, maintenance, and ensuring smooth database operations across mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support Azure SQL and Oracle databases, ensuring high availability and data integrity.
  • Perform routine database operations, including backups, restores, patches, and updates.
  • Monitor database performance and proactively resolve issues.
  • Optimize SQL queries, indexes, and schema designs for improved system efficiency.
  • Implement and monitor database security standards, access controls, and compliance measures.
  • Document database processes, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Collaborate with developers, system administrators, and cross-functional IT teams.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and readiness activities.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and new database technologies.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of professional experience as a Database Administrator.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Azure SQL and Oracle database administration.
  • Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning.
  • Experience with database backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Familiarity with database monitoring tools and cloud-based management solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills for complex database issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or a related field.

  • Work Hours: Standard business hours; occasional evenings/weekends as needed.
  • Travel: Not required.
  • Environment: Professional team-based IT environment.
  • Budget Responsibilities: Assist in optimizing costs associated with database resources and tooling.

This is a Contract position based out of Honolulu, HI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
