We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead one of the Data Platform teams within the Platform Product Group.
The Platform Product Group is dedicated to building a trusted, scalable, and compliant platform. Its mission is to maximize velocity, efficiency, and quality by establishing foundational elements used across various products and teams at Coinbase, ensuring users receive a consistent and high-quality experience.What you'll be doing (ie. job duties):

• Build and manage engineering teams, to guide the development of features, services, and infrastructure
• Coach your direct reports to have a positive impact on the organization and support their career growth.
• Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate our vision into a tangible roadmap on a quarterly basis. Break down complex projects into smaller pieces and lead the iterative design and implementation process.
• Be a thoughtful technical voice within the team, aiding in diligent architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality code and engineering processes. Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to ensure successful delivery and operation of multi-tenanted, distributed systems at scale.
• Work closely with our talent organization to identify and recruit exceptional engineers who align with Coinbase's culture and contribute to our products.
• Contribute to and take ownership of processes that drive engineering quality and meet our engineering SLAs.

What We Look For In You (ie. Job Requirements)

• 9+ years of experience of managing critical datastores infrastructure with high transaction throughput, production reliability, big migration, and technology evolution
• Track records of architecting and scaling databases with partitioning, sharding, distributed db, caching, router/proxy
• Hands-on practice with Relational & NoSQL as well as some relevant engines, such as Postgres, MongoDB, DynamoDB, Redis, ElasticSearch
• Real-world experience of design scale-out infra and triage performance/reliability issues in a distributed env;
• Leadership in terms of advancing developer experience/velocity and enforcing standards via self-service tools
• Proven experience of managing infra budget, contracts and vendors for efficiency, optimization and evolution roadmap
• Effective communication for mandarin-but-instrumental technical aspects, guidelines and tradeoffs to other service/product teams and non-technical stakeholders
• Effect way to build and nurture multiple sub teams with big vision/roadmap, "can do" spirit, and practical dependency & priorities

Pay Transparency Notice: Depending on your work location, the target annual base salary for this position can range as detailed below. Full time offers from Coinbase also include bonus eligibility + equity eligibility + benefits (including medical, dental, vision and 401(k)).

Base salary range shown. Total compensation also includes equity and bonus eligibility and benefits:

$253,895-$298,700 USD
