Role description :
Workday Project Manager
A senior Project Manager to lead delivery governance for an Adaptive Planning optimization initiative integrated with Workday Financials. This person must bring strong PMO discipline, audit/compliance rigor, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional stakeholders while partnering closely with Deloitte, who is serving as the implementation partner.
The role is focused not only on implementation delivery, but also on post-implementation stabilization, sustainment, and roadmap planning. We need someone who can operate comfortably in a finance-heavy enterprise environment and communicate effectively with business and executive stakeholders.
Top Required Skills / Qualifications
- Strong PMO Governance & Audit-Driven Project Management Experience
- Experience operating within a formal PMO framework
- Audit/compliance rigor, artifact collection, traceability, change management, testing coordination, risk/issue management, and executive reporting are critical
- Enterprise Financial / Planning Implementation Experience
- Preferred: Adaptive Planning implementation experience
- Strong plus: Workday Financials exposure
- If no Adaptive experience, candidates must have:
- Financial enterprise implementation experience, OR
- Planning/forecasting platform experience, OR
- Strong functional finance implementation exposure
- Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Ability to facilitate difficult discussions across cross-functional teams
- Strong executive communication and stakeholder coordination
- Must be personable, approachable, direct, and able to guide teams without being dismissive
Preferred / Differentiating Experience
- Adaptive Planning optimization or implementation experience
- Workday Financials experience
- FP&A / planning / forecasting domain exposure
- Experience supporting UAT, end-to-end testing, and enterprise integrations
- Experience working alongside third-party implementation partners (Deloitte specifically mentioned)
- Candidates who have lived through enterprise implementations and can speak to lessons learned / operational realities
Project Context
- Current project is an Adaptive Planning optimization initiative
- Existing production environment is already live
- Previous implementation lacked strong PMO governance, creating the need for this role
- Technology organization is now responsible for delivery oversight
Personality / Cultural Fit
- Must operate like a true full-time owner of the work
- Need strong accountability, communication, and responsiveness
- Candidate should be comfortable working with tenured stakeholders and navigating complex interpersonal dynamics
- Previous hire failed due to availability/engagement concerns despite having ideal technical background
Interview Process
- First interview conducted jointly by Mary and Jason
- Potentially two additional interview rounds afterward
- One later-stage round is more of a stakeholder introduction / red-flag check
- Team is available to interview immediately
