Job Description
The team is seeking a Private LTE (PLTE) Core Engineer with a strong background in core network and core site deployments (this role is not focused on radio/RAN engineering). The engineer will work closely with multiple project teams aligned to PLTE initiatives to assess network readiness and prepare environments for installation and deployment.
This role involves evaluating the current state of the network, providing recommendations on next steps, performing design reviews, and collaborating with internal stakeholders and technology vendors to successfully deploy and integrate solutions. The position follows a hybrid work schedule, with approximately 3 days onsite (office/field) and 2 days remote.
Key Responsibilities
Produce engineering documentation, design standards, and operational procedures to support new deployments
Provide engineering support for 5G Core signaling, including AMF, SMF, UPF, AUSF, UDM, PCF, and other service-based architecture components
Analyze and optimize Non-Access Stratum (NAS) signaling flows, including registration, session management, mobility, and security procedures
Design and enhance Private LTE / 5G Core architectures, ensuring robust signaling paths and seamless integration with MPLS and DWDM transport networks
Architect, implement, and maintain transport networks across a distributed geographic footprint, including resiliency, capacity planning, and end-to-end performance engineering
Configure and troubleshoot MPLS routing, including OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, LDP, RSVP-TE, QoS, and traffic engineering across multi-site topologies
Develop and maintain automation and scripting tools for LTE/5G monitoring, KPI collection, alarm correlation, and proactive fault detection
Perform deep-dive root cause analysis for escalated 5G Core and signaling issues and drive long-term corrective actions
Support new site deployments, transport backhaul integration, and expansion of distributed 5G / PLTE infrastructure
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on lab validation, feature testing, and vendor coordination for new capabilities and software releases
Top Skills & Technical Expertise
Hands-on experience with Private LTE / 5G Core platforms and PLTE deployments
Strong expertise in core and NAS signaling, including registration, PDU session establishment, mobility, and authentication flows
Proven experience designing and supporting MPLS transport networks across distributed environments
Proficiency in scripting and automation for LTE/5G monitoring using Python, Bash, or similar tools
Ability to architect and troubleshoot multi-site transport backbones, including redundancy, failover strategies, and QoS frameworks
Experience supporting or designing LTE / 5G networks
Familiarity with virtualization and cloud-native network functions, including virtualized platforms and automation frameworks

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
