Should Costing Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Should Costing Engineer with a strong background in the automotive and manufacturing industry. The ideal candidate will have expertise in cost analysis, manufacturing processes, and supplier negotiations to support cost optimization and strategic sourcing initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform should costing analysis for various components including sheet metal, machined parts, plastics, rubber, and assemblies
• Develop reference/target costs and support supplier cost negotiations
• Analyze supplier quotations and prepare detailed cost breakdowns and negotiation reports
• Identify cost drivers and perform independent cost calculations with minimal supervision
• Conduct cost mapping for engineering components and assemblies
• Define optimal manufacturing processes, machine selection, and cycle time calculations
• Work closely with sourcing and commodity teams for cost optimization initiatives
• Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T principles
• Maintain cost models and support continuous improvement in cost engineering practices

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 7–10 years of experience in should costing / cost engineering
• Strong experience in automotive domain (mandatory)
• Expertise in manufacturing processes:
  • Sheet Metal
  • Machined Components
  • Plastics & Rubber
  • Assemblies
• Hands-on experience with should costing tools such as:
  • aPriori
  • Costimator
  • TcPCM
• Knowledge of machine rates, MHR, overheads, and profit calculations
• Experience with supplier quote analysis and negotiations
• Proficiency in SAP or other sourcing tools
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and GD&T
