Job#: 3038323 Job Description: The Advanced Analytics Cognos Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, and ongoing support of enterprise reporting and analytics platforms. This role supports business intelligence solutions by ensuring system stability, performance, and scalability across all BI environments.
The administrator partners closely with reporting developers and business stakeholders to propose and validate solutions that align with business requirements. This position plays a key role in maintaining and upgrading Cognos environments (including Cognos v11), while providing technical guidance and troubleshooting support across data warehouse and operational data environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and support BI applications, ensuring a stable and high-performing production environment
- Monitor system performance and proactively implement improvements and tuning
- Provide timely resolution for production issues, including participation in on-call support
- Manage and maintain all BI environments (development, test, production, and disaster recovery)
- Lead or support system upgrades, implementations, and license management activities
- Oversee security, auditing, and compliance across BI platforms
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to resolve issues and drive system enhancements
- Support code deployments, system configurations, and data analysis efforts
- Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and recommend analytical solutions to improve performance
Team & Process Contributions:
- Cross-train and collaborate with team members to ensure consistent support coverage
- Provide ongoing training and technical direction to reporting developers and power users
- Research new features and capabilities within BI tools and recommend enhancements
- Develop and maintain documentation, including design specs, test plans, and project updates
- Establish and enforce best practices, standards, and governance for BI tool usage
Communication & Reporting:
- Deliver regular status updates, project metrics, and performance benchmarking to leadership
- Act as a technical liaison across IT teams, data teams, project managers, and vendors to remove roadblocks and drive initiatives forward
Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of experience designing, developing, and administering Business Intelligence applications
- Strong experience with Cognos, including upgrade experience to Cognos v11
- Proven background in system maintenance, performance tuning, configuration, and support
- Experience with IT processes such as Change Management, Incident Management, and Problem Resolution
- Familiarity with business continuity and disaster recovery planning
Preferred:
- Power BI administration and development experience
