Job Title : Automation Lead Engineer (DeltaV)

Location : Indianapolis, IN

Job Mode : Contract     

  

Job Description:

  • Own or support the technical scope for the assigned automation project area.
  • Act as the automation representative in cross‑functional leadership meetings, ensuring alignment with process engineering, digital/MES, and quality teams.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for client stakeholders and senior leadership regarding automation scope, status, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Collaborate with program technical teams to ensure automation solutions align with overall automation philosophy and standards.
  • Provide technical direction to the project team for the assigned area/node and ensure adherence to applicable standards.
  • Ensure consistency and quality of automation deliverables, including requirements, functional specifications, control strategies, phases, and recipes.
  • Participate in P&ID reviews and lead control strategy development.
  • Define software components that need to be created or modified.
  • Communicate progress, issues, and resource needs to the automation project manager across the full workstream.
  • Lead the development, review, and approval of functional requirements and specifications.
  • Lead the design of parameter and recipe specification philosophy.
  • Address and resolve technical queries from system integrators.
  • Lead and collaborate on software testing strategies and execution.
  • Identify and drive remediation efforts related to process control software.
  • Identify, assess, and plan responses for technical risks within the assigned area.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable training requirements.
  • Provide training, guidance, and mentoring to junior engineers and broader project team members.
  • Champion the adoption of emerging automation technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance system efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.

 

Skills:

  • Strong hands‑on experience in DeltaV design, implementation, and testing
  • Automation systems within pharmaceutical/life sciences environments
  • Strong experience in API/bulk manufacturing automation
  • Control strategy development and P&ID interpretation
  • Functional Requirements, FDS, Control Strategies, Recipes, and Phases development
  • Software design: defining, modifying, and validating automation software components
  • Automation standards adherence and implementation
  • Software testing strategies and execution
  • Understanding of MES/Digital systems and integration touchpoints
