AV Commissioning Engineer
Location: Greater Boston Area with travel into Southern New Hampshire
Type: 6-Month Contract with Potential Extension
Client: Leading, well-established audiovisual integration firm
Overview
The AV Commissioning Engineer will support active project workloads across Boston and Southern New Hampshire. This role is strictly for individuals with proven, hands-on AV commissioning experience, including Crestron, Biamp, DSP file engagement, and full system validation. Candidates without prior commissioning work will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Perform full commissioning of integrated AV systems across corporate, commercial, and higher-education spaces
Use Crestron Toolbox for diagnostics, device discovery, firmware checks, program uploads, and IP configuration
Load, validate, and troubleshoot Crestron control programs and ensure proper system functionality
Modify, adjust, and validate Biamp DSP files, including gain structure, routing, EQ, logic, and tuning
Conduct complete system testing across audio, video, control, UC hardware, and AV-over-IP signal paths
Identify and resolve complex issues related to signal flow, network configuration, and device communication
Collaborate closely with installation teams, programmers, and project managers to ensure smooth project closeout
Interpret engineering drawings, rack elevations, and signal flow documentation during commissioning
Produce detailed commissioning reports and documentation for turnover
Manage multiple site assignments and daily tickets across the region
Required Skills & Experience
Candidates must have prior, hands-on AV commissioning experience. This is a core requirement.
Demonstrated experience commissioning Crestron control systems in the field
Proven Biamp DSP commissioning experience (Tesira, Devio, etc.)
Strong knowledge of AV signal flow, IP-based AV systems, and UC platform integration
Hands-on proficiency with Crestron Toolbox for system validation and troubleshooting
Experience modifying, tuning, and validating DSP files during active project work
Ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve issues in live environments
Strong communication skills and professionalism with clients and project teams
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Preferred Certifications
CTS or CTS-I
Crestron certifications or CTI coursework
Biamp Tesira certification
Dante certification (Level 1-3)
Additional AV manufacturer certifications are beneficial
Compensation
Compensation is based on experience and reflects the candidate's commissioning background and technical depth.
Travel Expectations
Daily assignments may vary across Boston and Southern New Hampshire
Candidates must be comfortable traveling between multiple sites as needed

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $48.00/hr.
