SAP Data Migration Lead
Location: Remote (travel customer location when needed) Expense paid by client
Role Overview
STAFFXPERT is seeking an experienced SAP Data Migration Lead to drive end-to-end data migration activities for SAP S/4HANA transformation initiatives. This role will be responsible for defining migration strategy, governing data quality, leading cutover activities, and ensuring seamless migration from legacy platforms into SAP S/4HANA environments.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading large-scale SAP data migration programs, strong expertise in SAP migration tools, and the ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Data Migration Strategy & Governance
- Define and lead the overall SAP data migration strategy, scope, timelines, and execution roadmap.
- Establish data governance frameworks, ownership models, approval workflows, and migration standards.
- Develop and manage migration runbooks, cutover planning, and mock migration cycles.
- Coordinate migration dependencies across business, functional, and technical teams.
Data Quality & Validation
- Design and implement data profiling, cleansing, transformation, and validation processes.
- Build pre-load and post-load reconciliation reports to ensure data accuracy and completeness.
- Partner with business stakeholders to identify, analyze, and remediate data quality issues.
- Ensure successful validation of migrated master data, transactional data, and financial objects.
SAP S/4HANA Migration Execution
- Lead legacy-to-SAP S/4HANA migration activities across multiple business domains.
- Support extraction, transformation, mapping, loading, and validation of legacy system data.
- Manage migration cycles including mock loads, dress rehearsals, and production cutovers.
- Ensure minimal business disruption and smooth transition during go-live activities.
Stakeholder & Project Management
- Collaborate with business users, SAP functional teams, data architects, and project leadership.
- Provide regular status updates, risk assessments, and issue tracking to leadership teams.
- Lead migration workshops, planning sessions, and stakeholder communications.
- Support offshore/onshore coordination across distributed project teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of IT experience with strong focus on SAP Data Migration projects.
- Proven experience leading at least 2 full lifecycle legacy-to-SAP S/4HANA migration programs.
- Strong expertise in:
- SAP S/4HANA data structures
- Business Partner conversion
- Financial objects and master data migration
- Data governance and reconciliation processes
- Hands-on experience with:
- SAP BODS (BusinessObjects Data Services)
- SAP Information Steward
- LTMC
- LTMOM
- Strong SQL skills and experience with SAP HANA Studio.
- Experience with legacy data extraction, transformation, cleansing, and mapping methodologies.
- Expertise in data quality frameworks, reconciliation models, and validation techniques.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting global SAP transformation or ERP modernization programs.
- Exposure to SAP MDG, SAP Data Intelligence, or enterprise data governance platforms.
- Experience working within Agile and Waterfall delivery environments.
- SAP S/4HANA or SAP Data Migration certifications preferred.
