Collinwood is assisting our client, a fast-growing AI consultancy, in their effort to hire a Director of Product Strategy. Our client has identified two connected growth constraints: they need more A-player product talent, and they need a leader who can act as an escalation point for more junior product individuals. This role is built to solve both at once.
The Director of Product Strategy is a hybrid seat for a proven product leader who is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves as billable product/delivery leadership on a frontier account, leading product strategy workshops, and eventually owning the relationship on accounts they help land. It's a role for someone who has already done this at a high level elsewhere and is ready to build a book of business inside a firm that will invest in them accordingly.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
● Serve as billable product/delivery leadership on frontier accounts — the most strategically important and technically ambitious work in the portfolio.
● Build trusted relationships with clients during engagements that convert into signed delivery work, and take ownership of those accounts as they grow.
● Partner with sales leadership to shape proposals, create delivery team models, flag risks, and position Hatchworks' product point of view in the sales process.
● Mentor and raise the bar for individuals in the product & delivery practice across engagements, bringing advice and experience from prior senior roles.
● Lead initiatives within the product & delivery practice to improve delivery consistency and reporting.
● Balance a portfolio that spans product strategy work and hands-on delivery leadership, shifting weight between the two as accounts mature.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
● A proven, senior product leader (8+ years) with a track record that spans both strategic advisory/consulting work and hands-on product or delivery leadership.
● Experience running workshops with client executives, and comfortable being the person in the room who sets direction.
● Credible operating as billable delivery leadership — you can lead a product team and be accountable to a client's roadmap and outcomes, not just advise from the sidelines.
● Commercially minded: you understand how great delivery work turns into extended engagements and you're motivated by growing accounts, not just running them.
● A strong communicator and relationship-builder who earns client trust quickly and holds it over time.
● Consulting, agency, or professional services background strongly preferred; experience in AI-enabled product work is a plus.
