Job Title: Components Engineer

Location: Andover, MA

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Components Engineer to support component selection, analysis, and lifecycle management for new product designs. This role focuses on mitigating risks related to Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS), ensuring component quality, and driving standardization across engineering and procurement processes.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, supply chain, quality, and external suppliers to resolve technical issues, qualify new components, and ensure the long-term reliability and availability of parts used in development and production.

Responsibilities

Provide Components Engineering support for new product designs, including component selection analysis and risk assessment related to potential obsolescence or DMSMS issues.

Lead component-related efforts involving engineering data definition, part standardization, preparation of part specifications, and procurement control requirements.

Collaborate with suppliers, internal procurement teams, customers, and subcontractors to resolve component issues and support qualification activities.

Address and resolve obsolescence concerns, counterfeit avoidance, pure tin issues, and component-related failure investigations.

Prepare technical reports, risk assessments, and documentation for component substitutions, second-source qualifications, and lifecycle management.

Support continuous process and quality improvements related to component usage and procurement.

Oversee BOM updates and process changes within PLM systems such as Agile or Windchill.

Required Qualifications

Experience with electrical component manufacturing processes and physical property analysis.

Hands-on experience in Components Engineering, including detailed knowledge of electronic components and devices at the integrated circuit and discrete component level.

Proven experience with new component releases and qualification processes.

Experience processing Bill of Materials (BOM) changes within Agile or Windchill PLM systems.

Strong background in component selection, part qualification, and lifecycle management.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with DMSMS management and mitigation strategies.

Experience diagnosing component failure issues, including pure tin-related risks and counterfeit part detection.
