Description

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Manager, Network Infrastructure to oversee the performance, reliability, and evolution of campus-wide network services in Fairfield, Connecticut. This role combines hands-on technical leadership with operational oversight, supporting wired, wireless, and data center connectivity across multiple environments. The ideal candidate brings strong Cisco-based networking expertise, a proactive approach to uptime and security, and the ability to coordinate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities:
Direct the planning, implementation, and ongoing administration of network services across campus locations, ensuring dependable connectivity for both wired and wireless environments.
Evaluate, procure, and deploy networking hardware, tools, and supporting materials needed to maintain and expand infrastructure operations.
Oversee resilient internet and organizational network connections, with a focus on high availability, rapid incident response, and continuous service performance.
Supervise network troubleshooting efforts by guiding staff, contractors, and colleagues through diagnosis and resolution of infrastructure issues.
Track bandwidth consumption, device activity, and system behavior to identify risks early and reduce service disruptions or misuse.
Establish and maintain monitoring routines and preventive checks for switches, transmission systems, power components, environmental controls, generators, and related equipment.
Create and update physical and logical network documentation, including detailed topology maps and infrastructure standards for data centers and network closets.
Lead vendor and contractor coordination for active and passive network components while ensuring installation practices align with established technical standards.
Partner with construction and renovation teams to define network hardware, cabling, and wireless requirements and to uphold infrastructure standards throughout project delivery.

Requirements

Demonstrated hands-on experience managing enterprise network environments, including routing, switching, and data center infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals, including subnetting, DNS, DHCP, QoS, VLANs, and VPN technologies.
Proven expertise designing, deploying, and supporting Cisco routers, switches, and wireless access points in complex environments.
Experience working with Cisco platforms and operating environments, including NX-OS, along with the ability to troubleshoot both hardware and software issues.
Solid understanding of core, distribution, and access layer network architecture and current routing protocols such as BGP.
Ability to lead projects effectively, prioritize competing demands, and communicate with professionalism across technical and non-technical groups.
Willingness to participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation and respond quickly to critical network incidents.
Additional experience with Palo Alto firewalls, Active Directory, Azure, AWS, or relevant Microsoft and Cisco certifications is considered advantageous.
