Summary

We are seeking a Senior MS SQL DBA to join our team in a remote capacity. This role is crucial for managing and optimizing a large-scale, mission-critical platform utilizing SQL Server Always-On architecture. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in performance tuning, high availability, security hardening, and data lifecycle management, particularly in a high-growth environment handling multi-terabyte databases.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Managing SQL Server Always-On HA/DR setup (Primary, Secondary, Witness, DR sync environment)
- Performing advanced performance tuning, including missing index identification and execution plan analysis
- Analyzing long-running queries to optimize CPU, memory, and I/O utilization
- Troubleshooting I/O latency issues and disk bottlenecks
- Implementing indexing, data compression, and memory-optimized tables
- Leading database capacity planning and scalability improvements, supporting ~16% YoY data growth
- Managing database storage lifecycle, including archiving and retention strategies
- Strengthening database security through role-based access and encryption
- Driving data quality initiatives and supporting modernization efforts, including SQL Server 2022 upgrades

Required Skills & Experience:
- 8–12+ years of MS SQL Server DBA experience
- Strong experience with SQL Server 2019/2022 and Always-On Availability Groups
- Expertise in query tuning and indexing strategies
- Experience with large databases (4–5 TB+)
- Familiarity with monitoring tools like SolarWinds DPA
- Knowledge of HA/DR architectures and backup tools (Veeam preferred)
- Understanding of database security and performance bottlenecks

Nice to Have:
- Experience with insurance/claims platforms
- Familiarity with Power BI reporting workloads
