Job Description:
1. Core Certification & Domain Expertise
Required Certification
- Epic Hospital Billing (HB) Certification Mandatory
Ensures the analyst has formal Epic training and validated expertise in: - Billing workflows
- Revenue cycle processes
- Claims, statements, and payments
- Charge capture and routing
Preferred Certification
- Epic Charge Router Certification Preferred
Indicates advanced skills in: - Configuring and maintaining charge routing rules
- Ensuring charges flow correctly from clinical systems to billing
- Reducing billing errors and revenue leakage
2. Epic Application Knowledge & Tools
The analyst must have hands-on experience with the following Epic modules and tools:
a. SlicerDicer (Reporting & Analytics)
- Build and customize reports and dashboards
- Analyze billing and revenue cycle data
- Support operational and financial reporting needs
- Assist leadership and finance teams with data-driven decisions
b. Statements
- Configure and maintain:
- Patient statements
- Billing formats and templates
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational policies
- Troubleshoot statement generation and delivery issues
c. Charge Router
- Maintain charge routing logic for:
- Professional and hospital charges
- Department-specific charge flows
- Ensure correct mapping to:
- Revenue codes
- Cost centers
- Billing workflows
- Investigate and resolve charge drop or misrouting issues
d. BCB (Benefit Coverage Build / Billing Claim Builder)
- Support configuration for:
- Insurance plans
- Coverage rules
- Claim creation logic
- Ensure claims are generated accurately based on payer rules
e. Hospital Billing Workqueues (HB WQs)
- Manage and support the full range of HB Workqueues:
- Charge review WQs
- Claim edit WQs
- Follow-up and denial WQs
- Exception and error resolution WQs
- Optimize workflows to improve:
- Billing turnaround time
- Cash flow
- Claim accuracy
3. Workflow & Functional Responsibilities
End-to-End Revenue Cycle Support
- Understand and support workflows from:
- Charge capture claim creation billing payment posting follow-up
- Identify gaps or inefficiencies in current workflows
- Propose system improvements and optimizations
Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
- Handle tickets related to:
- Charge errors
- Claim rejections
- Statement issues
- Reporting discrepancies
- Perform root cause analysis and resolution
- Escalate complex issues as needed
4. Support & Operational Duties
Production Support
- Provide day-to-day Epic HB support:
- User questions
- System issues
- Data corrections
- Monitor system performance and billing queues
Upgrade Support
- Assist with Epic version upgrades by:
- Reviewing release notes note
- Testing new features
- Validating billing workflows post-upgrade
Testing Responsibilities
- Perform:
- Unit testing
- Integrated testing
- User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Validate:
- Charge routing
- Claims generation
- Statements
- Workqueues
Maintenance
- Maintain:
- Build and configurations
- Master files
- Workflows
- Apply change requests and enhancements
5. Collaboration & Coordination
Internal Coordination
- Work closely with:
- FTEs (Full-Time Employees)
- Revenue Cycle Operations
- Finance and Billing teams
- Compliance and audit teams
Cross-Application Coordination
- Coordinate with other Epic teams such as:
- Cadence (Scheduling)
- Prelude (Registration)
- Resolute PB (Professional Billing)
- Orders and clinical applications
- Ensure integrated workflows across applications
6. Soft Skills & Professional Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication with both technical and non-technical users
- Ability to manage multiple priorities (tickets, testing, upgrades)
- Documentation skills for workflows and build changes
