Position Description:
Join a dynamic public sector project as a WordPress Web Developer supporting the Philadelphia Department of Public Health. This contract role offers an exciting opportunity to design, develop, and maintain an accessible, mobile-responsive website for the Division of Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention (CDIP). Collaborate with UX/UI teams and stakeholders to build a user-friendly platform that promotes public health resources, search capabilities, and content sharing. Lead the migration, configuration, and customization of WordPress themes and plugins, ensuring security, usability, and adherence to WCAG AA standards. Contribute to all project phases from discovery and development to ongoing maintenance ensuring the site s long-term success and performance. Ideal for experienced developers passionate about impactful public health initiatives and accessible web design.
Top Requirements:
- 3+ years of professional experience in web development, systems analysis, or related roles
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP
- Hands-on experience with WordPress core, themes, plugins, and Elementor
- Understanding of WCAG AA accessibility standards and responsive design principles
- Experience with website configuration, content migration, and performance optimization
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams
