Sr. Microsoft 365 Engineer (Contract-to-Hire)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Sr. Microsoft 365 Engineer to serve as the top technical expert for Exchange Online and related Microsoft 365 services within a productivity-focused engineering team. This role is responsible for the engineering, configuration, support, and continuous improvement of the M365 ecosystem, with primary ownership of Exchange Online and secondary ownership of Purview compliance and Azure Entra ID integrations.
This is a highly visible role with ownership over Exchange modernization efforts, including the elimination of the remaining hybrid on-premises Exchange footprint. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong mentorship skills, and the ability to collaborate across security, compliance, and business teams in a fully remote environment.
This position is contract-to-hire, with an anticipated conversion salary of $125,000-$155,000 plus 10-15% bonus eligibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Sr. technical authority for Exchange Online and core Microsoft 365 services
  • Lead Exchange modernization initiatives and complete the transition away from hybrid on-prem environments
  • Engineer, configure, and support Microsoft 365 services to ensure platform stability, scalability, and security
  • Own and support Microsoft Purview compliance implementations
  • Support and integrate Azure Entra ID for identity and access management
  • Partner closely with security, compliance, and business stakeholders
  • Act as a Sr. technical mentor and escalation point for the productivity engineering team
  • Advise on Microsoft 365 best practices and continuous improvement opportunities
  • Ensure reliability and performance in a fully remote workforce environment

Required Skills & Experience

  • Expert-level experience with Exchange Online and Microsoft 365
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Purview, and Azure Entra ID
  • Experience supporting SharePoint Online and OneDrive
  • Strong PowerShell scripting experience for automation and administration
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow and Agile methodologies
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Seattle, WA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $70.00/hr.
