CAD Designer - Physical Security Systems

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented CAD Designer to support the design and documentation of physical security systems for commercial and enterprise clients. This role focuses on producing accurate, code-compliant drawings that support access control, video surveillance (CCTV), intrusion detection, intercom, and related low-voltage systems. The ideal candidate has strong AutoCAD skills, understands construction documents, and collaborates effectively with sales, engineering, and project teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed CAD drawings for physical security systems, including:
  • Access control
  • Video surveillance (CCTV)
  • Intrusion detection
  • Intercom and other low-voltage systems
• Produce floor plans, riser diagrams, device layouts, detail sheets, and as-built drawings
• Interpret architectural, electrical, and mechanical drawings to ensure accurate system placement
• Coordinate with sales engineers, project managers, and field teams to ensure designs align with project scope and customer requirements
• Update drawings based on redlines, field feedback, and change orders
• Ensure all drawings comply with industry standards, local codes, and project specifications
• Maintain CAD standards, templates, and organized file structures
• Support pre-sales design efforts and post-installation documentation as needed

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in AutoCAD (AutoCAD Electrical or similar preferred)
• 2+ years of experience creating CAD drawings for low-voltage, physical security, or systems integration projects
• Strong understanding of construction documentation and floor plan interpretation
• Working knowledge of physical security systems and components
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Background in cable installation or field work
• Hands-on experience with low-voltage installations
• Familiarity with access control systems, VMS platforms, and device manufacturers
• Knowledge of basic electrical principles and structured cabling standards
• Experience with Bluebeam, Visio, or BIM coordination

Education & Certifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in CAD, drafting, or a related field preferred

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Jacksonville, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
