Summary

Role: Oracle Cloud Payroll Configuration Consultant (Functional)

Location: Hartford, CT (1st 5 days On-Site at nearest Client office and then complete Remote)

Contract (W2/1099)

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Oracle Cloud Payroll Configuration Consultant with strong functional expertise to support payroll solution design and configuration within Oracle HCM Cloud. This role will partner with payroll stakeholders, HR teams, and technical resources to translate business requirements into effective payroll solutions. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of Oracle Payroll Cloud, strong requirements-gathering capabilities, and the ability to provide clear functional direction to technical team members throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Functional Solutioning & Requirements

  • Lead discovery sessions with payroll, HR, and finance stakeholders to gather and document payroll requirements.
  • Translate business needs into functional payroll designs aligned with Oracle Payroll Cloud capabilities and best practices.
  • Analyze current payroll processes and recommend optimized future-state solutions.
  • Define functional design for payroll elements, including earnings, deductions, balances, costing, and statutory requirements.
  • Identify risks, gaps, and dependencies, and recommend mitigations.

Oracle Payroll Functional Configuration

  • Configure Oracle Payroll Cloud to support payroll processing requirements, including payroll definitions, elements, formulas (functional design input), balances, and costing structures.
  • Support setup of payroll flows, run types, payment methods, and legislative requirements.
  • Ensure payroll configurations are compliant with applicable regulations and business policies.
  • Validate configuration through functional reviews and stakeholder walkthroughs.
  • Support data conversion with providing HDL templates and methods to load payroll balances

Collaboration with Technical Team

  • Provide functional guidance to technical teams on integrations, reporting, data conversions, and extensions.
  • Clearly articulate payroll rules, calculations, and data requirements to ensure accurate system design.
  • Review technical designs to ensure alignment with functional payroll requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Core HR, Benefits, Time & Labor, and Finance for end-to-end payroll integration.

Testing & Deployment Support

  • Develop and review payroll test scenarios, including parallel testing and reconciliation.
  • Support SIT, UAT, and payroll validation cycles, including issue triage and resolution.
  • Ensure payroll accuracy through validation of results against expected outcomes.
  • Assist with cutover activities, go-live readiness, and post-go-live support.

Stakeholder Management & Documentation

  • Act as a trusted advisor to payroll and business stakeholders.
  • Document functional requirements, design decisions, payroll processes, and configuration details.
  • Communicate status, risks, and issues effectively to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Support knowledge transfer to payroll operations and support teams.

Required Qualifications

  • Strong experience in Oracle HCM Cloud Payroll (functional) configuration.
  • Proven expertise in payroll processes including earnings, deductions, taxation, payroll runs, and reconciliation.
  • Experience translating payroll requirements into system solutions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across functional and technical teams.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain payroll concepts clearly to business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with end-to-end Oracle HCM Cloud implementations, specifically Payroll.
  • Knowledge of related modules such as Core HR, Time & Labor, Absence, or Benefits.
  • Experience with payroll compliance, statutory requirements, and regulatory considerations.
  • Experience supporting testing cycles including parallel payroll validation.
  • Consulting experience in client-facing environments.
