Oracle Benefits Cloud Configuration Consultant (Functional)
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Oracle Benefits Cloud Configuration Consultant with strong functional expertise to support the design, solutioning, and configuration of benefits programs within Oracle HCM Cloud. This role will partner closely with business stakeholders, benefits teams, and technical resources to translate requirements into scalable functional solutions. The ideal candidate will bring deep knowledge of Oracle Benefits Cloud capabilities, strong requirements-gathering skills, and the ability to provide clear functional direction to technical team members during design and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Solutioning & Requirements
- Lead discovery sessions with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document benefits requirements.
- Translate business needs into functional design recommendations aligned with Oracle Benefits Cloud capabilities and best practices.
- Assess existing benefits processes and propose optimized future-state solutions.
- Define configuration approach for benefits plans, plan types, eligibility profiles, rates, life events, enrollments, and related functional components.
- Identify gaps, risks, dependencies, and process impacts, and provide recommendations for resolution.
Oracle Benefits Functional Configuration
- Configure Oracle Benefits Cloud to support business requirements across health, welfare, retirement, and other benefits offerings.
- Support setup and maintenance of plan structures, eligibility rules, enrollment rules, rates, coverage options, and life event processing.
- Validate that configuration aligns with business requirements, compliance considerations, and operational needs.
- Participate in configuration walkthroughs and solution reviews with stakeholders.
- Support data conversion with providing HDL templates and methods to load benefit elections
Collaboration with Technical Team
- Provide functional guidance and direction to technical resources supporting integrations, reports, conversions, and related development activities.
- Clarify business rules, process flows, and expected system behavior for technical team members.
- Review technical design considerations to ensure alignment with functional requirements.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including payroll, core HR, compensation, and technical workstreams to ensure end-to-end solution integrity.
Testing & Deployment Support
- Develop and review functional test scenarios, test scripts, and expected results.
- Support system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and defect triage/resolution from a functional perspective.
- Validate that configured solutions meet business expectations prior to deployment.
- Assist with cutover planning, go-live readiness, and post-production stabilization support.
Stakeholder Management & Documentation
- Serve as a trusted functional advisor to business and project stakeholders.
- Document requirements, solution designs, process flows, configuration decisions, and change impacts.
- Communicate status, risks, issues, and decisions clearly to project leadership and client teams.
- Support knowledge transfer and functional handoff to operations or support teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong experience in Oracle HCM Cloud, with specific focus on Oracle Benefits Cloud functional configuration.
- Proven ability to gather requirements, design solutions, and configure benefits functionality in Oracle Cloud.
- Strong understanding of benefits business processes, including eligibility, enrollments, rates, plan design, and life events.
- Experience working in a functional lead or consultant capacity on Oracle HCM implementations or enhancements.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with both business stakeholders and technical teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts in business-friendly language.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with end-to-end Oracle HCM Cloud implementations.
- Broader Oracle HCM functional knowledge across Core HR, Payroll, or Absence Management.
- Experience supporting testing cycles, defect management, and deployment activities.
- Familiarity with benefits regulations and operational considerations impacting system design.
- Consulting experience in client-facing environments with strong stakeholder management skills.
