Senior Manager, Payments and Fraud

Position Summary
The Senior Manager, Payments is the operational and analytical backbone of RBI''s Payments & Fraud function, supporting payments strategy and execution across all 4 RBI brands (Burger King, Popeyes, Tim Hortons and Firehouse Subs). Reporting to the Director, Payments, Fraud and Partner Success, this role owns the day-to-day management of vendor relationships, fraud operations, and payment channel performance — serving as the primary interface with acquirers, networks, processors, and fraud vendors, and as the first point of escalation for franchisee (FZ) payment issues. The Senior Manager is a key partner to brand, IT, Digital, and Finance stakeholders, and is expected to balance operational excellence with the analytical rigor needed to support vendor negotiations and strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day payments operations across all RBI brands — monitor authorization rates, decline codes, settlement, and interchange; serve as the primary triage point for franchisee payment escalations and drive resolution with vendor partners
- Lead fraud operations end-to-end — manage the chargeback lifecycle across brands and channels, partner with fraud vendors to review and tune rules, track fraud KPIs (chargeback rate, approval rate, fraud loss), and balance fraud mitigation against guest experience
- Manage vendor relationships day-to-day — prepare and run QBR materials for 10+ critical payment partners (acquirers, networks, processors, fraud vendors), track SLAs and deliverables, and surface escalations to the Director
- Drive execution of payments initiatives — network tokenization rollout, new payment method launches (tap-to-pay, digital wallets, alternative payment methods), and payment channel enablement across stores and regions; coordinate across IT, Digital, Tech, and brand stakeholders
- Own payments analytics and reporting — build and maintain recurring dashboards (monthly payments touchbase, brand-level KPIs), conduct ad-hoc analyses, and quantify ROI of initiatives
- Support vendor negotiations — distill vendor proposals, benchmark commercial terms, build financial models, and prepare negotiation materials for the Director and senior leadership
- Prepare executive-level communications and present project and vendor updates to the Director and cross-functional leadership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor''s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, STEM or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor''s degree, or 3+ years with an Advanced Degree (Master''s / MBA / JD)
- Demonstrated project management experience, including managing multiple concurrent workstreams with external vendors and internal stakeholders
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills; advanced Excel required
- Proven vendor management experience and comfort negotiating commercial terms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to senior leadership
- Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, matrixed environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in payments, fraud, merchant acquiring, financial services, or management consulting
- Familiarity with card networks (Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover), acquirers, and payment processors
- Working knowledge of tokenization, 3DS, chargeback management, and fraud rule engines
- Experience in the QSR or multi-unit retail industry, particularly in a franchised operating model
- Scenario analysis and/or prior investment banking / consulting exposure
