Senior AWS Cloud Migration Architect (EKS, GitOps & CI/CD)

Overview / Summary

We are seeking a Senior Cloud Migration Architect to embed with our development team and lead AWS platform configuration and CI/CD automation for a large-scale enterprise cloud migration program. The program spans 30+ applications across migration approaches including Elastic Beanstalk, Amazon EKS, and EC2/Cloud VM environments delivered over multiple sprints.

This is a hands-on technical role responsible for AWS service configuration, Azure DevOps pipeline development, GitOps-driven deployments to EKS, and collaboration with application teams, infrastructure teams, and DBAs to deliver production-ready environments.

Key Responsibilities

< data-end="908" data-start="877">AWS Platform Configuration
  • Configure and tune AWS Elastic Beanstalk environments across Dev, Test, and Prod environments
  • Stand up and operate Amazon EKS clusters for containerized workloads, including node groups, autoscaling, ingress controllers, and namespace strategy
  • Provision and harden EC2/Cloud VM environments, including AMI selection, instance sizing, OS configuration, and patching strategy
  • Partner with DBA teams on Amazon RDS setup for SQL Server and PostgreSQL
  • Design VPC networking, security groups, IAM roles/policies, KMS keys, and Secrets Manager integrations following least-privilege principles
  • Build infrastructure-as-code using Terraform (preferred) or CloudFormation

  • Design and build Azure DevOps build and release pipelines for multiple migration patterns
  • Implement GitOps deployments using ArgoCD or Flux for EKS workloads
  • Establish deployment promotion strategies across Dev, Test, and Prod environments with approvals and rollback mechanisms
  • Standardize YAML pipeline templates for consistent application onboarding
  • Integrate static analysis, container scanning, SAST/DAST hooks, and artifact provenance into pipelines

  • Configure CloudWatch logs, metrics, alarms, and dashboards
  • Define SLOs, alerting thresholds, and incident response runbooks for production cutovers
< data-end="2286" data-start="2257">Documentation & Hand-off
  • Produce architecture decision records (ADRs), runbooks, and operational procedures
  • Maintain versioned infrastructure-as-code repositories as the source of truth
< data-end="2471" data-start="2453">Collaboration
  • Work closely with application development teams, AWS Infrastructure Team, DBA Team, and Tech Leads
  • Pair with developers to troubleshoot cloud-specific issues including container OOMs, RDS connectivity, IAM denials, and cold starts

Required Qualifications

  • 5 6+ years of hands-on experience building and operating production workloads on AWS
  • Deep knowledge of Elastic Beanstalk, EKS, EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, and Secrets Manager
  • 3+ years of hands-on Kubernetes experience, including production EKS environments
  • Experience with Helm, kubectl, ingress controllers, HPA, and Kubernetes troubleshooting
  • Production experience with ArgoCD or Flux, including GitOps drift resolution and multi-environment promotion
  • Strong experience with Azure DevOps Pipelines (YAML), including build pipelines, multi-stage releases, variable groups, service connections, and hosted/self-hosted agents
  • Equivalent CI/CD experience with GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Jenkins is acceptable if Azure DevOps can be learned quickly
  • Strong Docker experience including multi-stage builds, image hardening, and Amazon ECR
  • Production infrastructure-as-code experience with Terraform or CloudFormation/CDK
  • Experience working with DBA teams on Amazon RDS for SQL Server and PostgreSQL
  • Linux administration experience across RHEL, Amazon Linux, or Ubuntu
  • Shell scripting experience using Bash
  • Experience using Git with branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to create runbooks, architecture diagrams, and PR documentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS DevOps Engineer Professional certifications
  • CKA or CKAD certifications
  • Experience migrating .NET and Java applications from on-premises to AWS
  • Experience operating COTS products in containerized or cloud environments
  • Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or App Mesh
  • Experience with API gateways
  • Exposure to HashiCorp Vault, secrets rotation, and certificate management
  • Familiarity with DataDog, New Relic, or Splunk
  • Experience with blue/green and canary deployment patterns
