Senior Software Engineer (Java + AI Skills)

The Senior Software Engineer (AI) jumps right into our Workflow Orchestration team, building smart backend services that supercharge enterprise workflows and automation on platforms like Appian. You''ll blend solid Java development chops with Python and AI/ML know-how, teaming up with fellow Java engineers to create shared platforms and services for our Payment Business Unit''s Workflow Intelligence push. Together with staff engineers and architects, you''ll craft scalable, secure solutions that bring AI-powered decisions and automation to life.

Responsibilities

• Build Java backend services and APIs that plug seamlessly into workflow tools like Appian.
• Bring AI/ML features to life—like classification, data extraction, smart recommendations, predictions, and decision aids—using Python and top AI frameworks.
• Partner closely with Java teammates to keep AI services in sync with our core architecture.
• Create and tweak microservices with Java, Spring tools, and proven enterprise patterns.
• Deliver AI smarts through secure, high-scale APIs that workflows and apps can tap into.
• Work hand-in-hand with data engineers to grab, clean, and prep data for AI projects.
• Handle model setup, live inference pipelines, monitoring, and fine-tuning in real-world production.
• Pitch in on CI/CD setups, DevSecOps, automated tests, and keeping everything observable across Java and AI code.
• Jump into code reviews, design chats, and team huddles to keep our work top-notch and consistent.

Requirements

Required Skills

• Bachelor''s in Computer Science, Engineering, or something similar (or solid real-world experience).
• 5+ years building enterprise backend software.
• Real hands-on expertise with Java, especially Spring Boot and Spring Cloud.
• Practical Python skills for crafting or hooking up AI/ML solutions.
• Track record weaving AI/ML models or services into big enterprise apps.
• Deep know-how on RESTful APIs, integration patterns, and securing services.
• Solid work with relational databases (PostgreSQL is a plus), data design, and query tweaks.
• Some exposure to workflow platforms like Appian.
• Comfort with agile ways of working (SAFe is great if you know it).
• Great at communicating and collaborating across engineering teams.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on time with workflow smarts, decision automation, NLP, or document handling.
• Familiarity with MLOps, managing model lifecycles, or cloud AI setups.
• Experience with BPM tools like Appian, Camunda, or JBPM.
• Background in healthcare IT, payment systems, or regulated spaces.
• Past work on shared platforms, AI services, or integration setups.
