As a Lead Platform Engineer at Chubb, you'll help design and deliver scalable, resilient platform solutions that support critical business capabilities across the enterprise. With a strong background in Java engineering and platform architecture, you'll translate complex requirements into practical, maintainable solutions that improve integration, performance, and delivery speed. You'll partner closely with business and technology stakeholders to understand needs, shape technical approaches, and ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and long term strategy. This role is ideal for someone who combines hands on engineering depth with broad platform thinking and the ability to influence technical direction across teams.

In this role, you will:
  • Architect and implement enterprise scale solutions across Java based platforms, APIs, microservices, cloud services, and data driven systems
  • Champion platform centric architecture to improve reuse, extensibility, and speed of delivery
  • Apply engineering standards and architectural principles across application and platform development
  • Build robust solutions using Java, Spring, Azure, PaaS services, AKS, databases, and related enterprise technologies
  • Translate business and product requirements into maintainable technical designs, integration patterns, and clear documentation
  • Develop and integrate services using REST APIs, messaging, event driven patterns, and downstream system integrations
  • Ensure secure design and implementation using authentication, authorization, and API security best practices
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines, automation, testing, and release processes to increase delivery efficiency
  • Monitor application health, troubleshoot production issues, and provide hands on technical support when needed
  • Mentor engineers, promote clean code practices, and contribute to continuous improvement across the team

Qualifications

  • 20+ years of engineering experience across enterprise technology environments including experience in platform, application, and solution delivery
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Strong insurance domain knowledge with the ability to apply business context to technical decisions
  • Proven ability to shape strategic direction, influence technical standards, and contribute thought leadership across teams
  • Experience advising senior leaders on technology roadmaps, platform investments, and modernization priorities
  • Active engagement in industry forums, communities, or working groups to stay current on emerging practices and trends
  • Hands on experience building and supporting full stack applications, with strong knowledge of Java, relational databases such as SQL Server, and caching strategies
  • Cloud experience, preferably with Azure services such as App Services, Azure SQL, Functions, and Key Vault
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps or similar tools, along with Git and containerization technologies such as Docker
  • Prior experience with and/or knowledge of policy administration platforms (Duck Creek, Guidewire, etc.) preferred but not required

The pay range for the role is $160,000 to $190,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant's skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.
