Job Description:
VP - Lead Backend Engineer
We're seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President / Principal Engineer to join our Digital Infrastructure and Software Engineering team.
In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:
You will help design, build, and improve secure, resilient engineering platforms and software solutions that support modern delivery, mission-critical business services, and distributed financial infrastructure.
Design, build, and support engineering capabilities that enable software teams to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable applications across cloud-native and distributed environments.
Contribute to platform and application engineering across backend and full-stack environments, including API design, frontend architecture, and multi-service integration.
Support Kubernetes-based platform development, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD pipelines to improve engineering productivity, resilience, and operational stability.
Partner with Product Owners, stakeholders, and engineering teams to define technical solutions aligned to business objectives and mission-critical delivery needs.
Help implement secure software delivery practices and controls aligned to enterprise and regulatory expectations, including performance, reliability, and operational excellence measures.
Develop and support distributed applications, payment solutions, and engineering tooling across cloud-native and event-driven architectures.
Enable engineering teams through technical leadership, documentation, mentoring, and knowledge-sharing that improve adoption of best practices and software quality standards.
Support monitoring, alerting, observability, troubleshooting, and incident-response readiness for critical systems and platforms.
Contribute to platform and tooling evaluation to improve developer experience, maintainability, throughput, and long-term scalability.
Work with stakeholders across engineering, operations, and product teams to ensure timely and effective technical execution in fast-paced delivery environments.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:
EDUCATION
Degree, diploma, or equivalent practical experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
Additional practical experience in enterprise architecture, platform engineering, or cloud-native software delivery is a plus.
EXPERIENCE
Strong experience in software engineering and platform engineering within high-performing technical teams.
Experience building and supporting Kubernetes-based platforms and cloud-native engineering environments.
Strong familiarity with infrastructure as code, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices using technologies such as Terraform, Docker, Helm, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins.
Experience with observability, monitoring, alerting, incident response, and operational support using tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and Kibana.
Experience with distributed applications, backend engineering, event-driven systems, and software development tooling across full-stack environments.
Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across complex technical environments, including performance optimization and reliability improvement.
Experience implementing secure deployment practices and supporting production-grade controls across financial services or similarly regulated environments.
Experience supporting engineering enablement through guides, training, mentoring, and cross-team technical leadership.
Familiarity with API design, frontend architecture, and software lifecycle management in enterprise-scale systems.
Exposure to distributed financial infrastructure, blockchain-based platforms, multi-currency payments, or cross-network payment systems is a plus.
Experience working across remote or cross-functional teams in delivery-focused engineering environments.
