**Job Description: Hospitalist Physician**
The Hospitalist Physician shall be responsible for providing comprehensive medical care to hospitalized patients, which encompasses admissions, daily rounds, and discharge planning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluating, diagnosing, and managing a diverse array of acute and chronic medical conditions while employing evidence-based, patient-centered approaches.
- Collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including specialists, primary care providers, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), Emergency Medicine physicians, and other ancillary services.
- Coordinating the development and implementation of patient care plans to facilitate seamless transitions of care.
- Ordering, interpreting, and acting upon laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic evaluations.
- Ensuring thorough and timely documentation of all patient encounters, care plans, and outcomes within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Responding promptly to medical emergencies, including code blue situations and rapid response calls.
- Managing ventilatory support as needed and participating in clinical rounds and interdisciplinary meetings to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educating patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment regimens, and follow-up care protocols.
- Engaging in hospital committees, quality improvement initiatives, and performance evaluations to drive clinical excellence.
- Adhering to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and ethical medical practices throughout patient care.
**Position Specifications:**
**Education**: MD or DO from an accredited medical institution.
**Certifications**:
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine, with current BLS and ACLS certifications. DEA registration must be secured prior to commencement.
**Experience**: A minimum of 2-3 years in a hospitalist role, with documented ventilator management experience and proficiency in running code situations. Experience in rural health settings is preferred.
**Licensure**: Active Vermont Medical License required.
**Professional Standards**:
Candidates must possess a clean malpractice history and present the most recent NPDB Self Query Report dated within the last 30 days.
**Additional Information:**
Procedures are not required, as the position supports specialty backup from surgeons for central line placements, along with respiratory therapy, Emergency Medicine physicians, and CRNAs
. Note that candidates who would need to commute for more than one hour are not eligible for this position.
